An error that many Need for Speed Unbound players are facing is the DXGI ERROR DEVICE error which completely blocks the game from launching. Likewise, this can be a very problematic error that renders the game unplayable. Knowing how to fix this can be very helpful. 1) Delete the DX12 File –

The first fix is to delete the DX12 File. You can find this file in the following folder paths:

  • Origin Games\Need for Speed Unbound\shadercache and
  • Documents\Need For Speed(TM) Unbound\cache
  • Steamlibrary\steamapps\common\NFS Unbound\shadercache

Delete the file and then launch the game. You might have to do this every time when launching NFS Unbound, until an official fix is released.

2) Change to the Native resolution of your monitor –

You may also be facing the error as a consequence of using a resolution lower or higher than the native resolution of your screen. Therefore, it is a good idea to switch to the native resolution to resolve the error.

3) Update your Xbox controller –

You can also try updating your Xbox Controller through the Xbox Accessories App. Likewise, all you have to do is to install the Xbox accessories app on your mobile phone and update your controller. This fix might sound irrelevant, but if you are using an Xbox controller to play the game on PC and facing this issue, then make sure to follow this step.

4) Select Debug Mode in Nvidia Control Panel and Install Nvidia Studio driver –

A fix that you can also follow is to select debug mode in the Nvidia Control Panel.

5) Perform a clean reinstall of your graphics drivers –

You can also perform a clean reinstall of your graphics drivers to resolve this error code. Likewise, problems with your graphics drivers may be the cause of the error code. Therefore, it is a good idea to perform a clean reinstall of the graphics drivers. You can also download the latest drivers for your graphics card. 6) Use the dedicated graphics card to run the game –

In some cases where you have both integrated GPU and dedicated GPU, you have to run the game on the dedicated graphics card to resolve the error code.

7) Try lowering the graphics settings and play in Windowed Mode –

Another fix that you can try is to play the game in the Windowed mode. Likewise, you can also lower the graphics settings of the game to improve performance and resolve the error code.

8) Update Windows to the latest version –

You may also be able to resolve this error code as well as other errors in the game by updating Windows. Likewise, Windows updates bring performance optimization as well as stability to the game.

9) Install DirectX files –

You can also install all the latest DirectX files from here and also put -d3d11 or -dx11 or -dx12 in the launch options. This can help in resolving the error in the game.

10) Disconnect devices and turn off unnecessary running programs –

You can also try disconnecting devices including multiple monitors, USB devices, Logitech wheel, joystick, Razer Tartarus gamepad, vjoy. Likewise, you can also turn off Razer Synapse, MSI Dragon Center, and Corsair software. You can also end services such as Nahmic services & lightingservice.exe via the Task manager.

11) Verify the game files –

You can also perform a file integrity check to make sure there are no missing game files. Likewise, this can resolve the error code by checking for missing files and restoring them.

12) Disable all overlay applications –

A fix you can also follow is to disable Steam/Origin Overlay as well as other overlay apps. Likewise, it is also a good idea to close all the overclocking applications.

13) Perform clean boot –

You can also perform a clean boot-up of your system before launching the game. In addition to resolving this error code, this can also improve the overall performance of your system.
