NBA 2K24 crossplay not working How to fix it (2)

Update: An update related to fixing the crossplay issues in NBA 2K24 is scheduled for release on April 3rd, 2024, at 2 a.m. PST. While PS5 players will likely need to install the update, Xbox Series X/S players won’t need any additional installation.

We will be releasing an update for NBA 2K24 on PS5 on April 3, 2:00 AM Pacific Time to address the crossplay invitation issues. No additional installation is required for Xbox Series X|S.

Thank you for your patience and see you back on the courts.

Original post from April 2nd, 2024 follows below-

As a cornerstone of virtual basketball gaming, the NBA 2K franchise has long been synonymous with immersive gameplay experiences and basketball action. However, the latest installment, NBA 2K24, seems to have hit a snag, as evidenced by its predominantly negative reviews. Amidst the excitement for hoops culture and the promise of personalized gameplay options, many players like yourself have been facing issues with the crossplay functionality. In other words, it is not working as expected. So, is there a fix for this issue? Continue reading for more details.

Crossplay in NBA 2K24 enables you to play with players on different systems. It’s a big deal for NBA 2K24 players because it lets friends on the current-gen consoles compete against each other. However, this feature isn’t working. This is not the first time that crossplay has stopped working in NBA 2K24. We have had a similar issue before and now it is back to haunt the player base. So, do the officials have anything to say on this? And how can you fix the issue? Here we are with all the answers.

NBA 2K24 crossplay not working How to fix it

Luckily, the official team behind NBA 2K24 has acknowledged the crossplay invitation issues. They announced on their official Twitter handle that they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it.

We are aware of the crossplay invitation issues affecting players in NBA 2K24 New Gen and are currently working on an update to ensure everyone can play together.

We will provide updates as we have them. Thank you for your patience!

They reassured players that they’re working on an update to ensure everyone can play together. They promised to keep players updated on the progress. This shows that the team is aware of the problem and is actively trying to solve it, which should give players hope for a resolution soon. So, what’s next? Well, you can try toggling Crossplay on and off to see if this fixes the issue. Now, if you have not done this before, here we are to guide you through the process.

Toggle Crossplay

While you can try toggling crossplay as a workaround, with these steps here, you will also be able to check if crossplay is even enabled for you in the first place. Anyway, here are the detailed steps to toggle crossplay in NBA 2K24:

Note: If you didn’t already know, crossplay is only available in the current-gen console versions of the game (PS5, and Xbox Series X/S). PCs and previous gen consoles don’t support crossplay in NBA 2K24.

  • From the main screen of NBA 2K24, navigate down to the “Features” option at the bottom.
  • Once you’ve selected “Features”, you’ll see a list of options. Look for and click on “Settings.”
  • Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Settings menu until you find the “Crossplay” option.
  • You’ll see an option to toggle Crossplay “On” or “Off”. Click on this option and turn it off for now. (If this option was turned off, toggle it on and then check if crossplay support is back for you.)
  • Once you’ve turned Crossplay off, you’ll only play against players on the same console as you (Xbox or PS5, depending on what system you own).

After turning off Crossplay, you may receive a warning message stating that matchmaking times may be longer in certain game modes, such as Pro-Am. Accept this warning if you’re okay with it. Now, restart the game and repeat the process to turn Crossplay back on. Give the game one final restart and then see if this fixes the issue. If it doesn’t, then all you can do is wait for the developers to fix it for good.

And that is all we have to share on this matter for now. We hope that the devs will fix this issue ASAP once and for all. Until then, be patient and stay tuned to DigiStatement for more gaming reads like this. Read more: Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel Steam Deck, Asus Rog Ally & Lenovo Legion Go Support Details
