Magic: The Gathering is a complex collectible card game that was released in 1993. The players take the role of wizards who have a life total of 20 at the start of the game. Players must reduce the opponent’s life total to 0 by using various spells, creatures, enchantments, etc. These all represent different types of cards in the game. Cards can supplement other cards; for example, land cards provide mana used to cast spells. Therefore, the players need to play the right combination of cards to avoid damage and gain the upper hand. Some cards are rare to find as they have only a few copies, and hence, they are valuable assets. In this article, we are going to talk about Scrapheap, which falls under the category of an artifact. This has gained popularity recently due to a creature card, as both can be paired to gain an advantage.
MTG Scrapheap price spike details
The price of Scrapheap has seen a whopping 900% rise recently. Earlier valued at $1, it has now leapt up to $10. Using Scrapheap allows you to gain life whenever an artifact or enchantment is destroyed. However, it requires 3 mana and also does no damage, which is why it has remained inert till now. The creature card Ragost, Daft Gastronaut, can give great benefits when combined with Scrapheap. Ragost is a commander in Edge of Eternities and caused a price spike for other cards such as Astrid Peth and Legion Extruder. The Edge of Eternities is the latest set that marks the beginning of the final story arc of Metronome.
The ability of Ragost allows you to tap it, pay 1 mana, and sacrifice a Food to deal 3 damage to each opponent. At the beginning of each end step, if you gained life this turn, Ragost untaps. Now, Scrapheap ensures that you gain life when you lose an artifact. Therefore, you can untap Ragost and use his ability more consistently.
Scrapheap was originally released in 1999 and has not been reprinted much. It is a part of Urza’s Legacy cards that contains a total of 143 cards. Its rarity has added to the price spike it has seen recently. Nevertheless, while Scrapheap has seen significant growth, there are other expensive cards in the current market. Agatha’s Soul Cauldron, an artifact, is currently valued around $60-70, while Vivi Ornitier, a creature from the Final Fantasy set, is priced around $40-50.
