Change weapons in Monster Hunter Now

If you are a fan of AR games and haven’t tried Monster Hunter Now yet, it’s time to discover an exciting new world full of monsters. And if you have started playing Monster Hunter Now, then you know that when you start the game, your hunter is, by default, armed with a sword and a shield. If you’re a regular player of RPG games, you’d want to learn how to change weapons. However, in Monster Hunter Now, you have to progress enough in the game before actually unlocking and changing weapons. Well, if you haven’t been able to figure out how to go about doing it, consider reading this guide, where we have shared details on how to change weapons in Monster Hunter Now.

Developed and published by Capcom and Niantic, Monster Hunter Now was released on September 14, 2023. The newest addition to the Monster Hunter series, this game is available only on Android and iPhone devices. Designed to thrill players with a game like Niantic’s cash cow Pokemon Go, Monster Hunter Now offers very engaging gameplay by cutting down the time of encounters to 75 seconds. The game encourages players to go out and meet people because monsters are easier to hunt as a team. In effect, it really is designed as a social franchise game. But how do you change weapons in-game?

The enchanting world of Monster Hunter Now offers the perfect ambiance for a role-playing game in a make-believe world where one can track and hunt down monsters using a real-world map. Since weapons are an important part of the game, you might want to change them if you wish to be more effective as a hunter. Having multiple weapons in Monster Hunter Now can help you survive better and excel. So, here are the details regarding changing weapons:

To begin with, you need to reach and clear the first part of Chapter 2: Shimmering Swamp main quest. Then you will unlock the great sword. After this, you can complete Chapter 2 and reach Hunter Rank 15. By the end of this chapter and after reaching the specified Hunter Rank, you will have access to all the in-game weapons. Currently, there are only six:

  • Great Sword
  • Bow
  • Sword and Shield
  • Hammer
  • Light Bowgun
  • Long Sword

Access the Equipment menu

Once you have fulfilled the above-mentioned conditions, you can easily change weapons in Monster Hunter Now by clicking on the equipment option, which is located beside the Hunter option on the bottom left of the in-game screen. You can then find the list of weapons that you have. The weapon that you have currently equipped will have an E icon on the top-right corner of its icon. Select the weapon of your choice by tapping on it. You will get the option to level up or unlock your special skill attack. Click on the giant Equip button right at the bottom of the screen to start using the weapon. And that’s all that you need to do to change/switch weapons in the game.
