Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 was a hit amongst those who want to take control of a virtual cockpit and fly around the world. After years, we finally have a sequel to this classic but so far, the reception has not been good. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has hit the shelves and players are scratching their heads because of the errors and issues. Among the countless issues in the game, there’s this unique cursor not showing up issue causing a great deal of frustration among players. So, in this guide, we have shared all the details regarding the cursor not showing up problem in the game along with some workarounds to fix it.
According to recent player reports, the cursor not showing up issue seems to be persistent on the PC platform only. Without a cursor, you will be left clueless as to where to point, click, and make selections. Also, there are many players affected by this error and it seems to occur alongside the stuck at the loading screen, which we covered here. Anyway, here’s all there’s to know about the cursor issue.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (MFS 24) Cursor Not Showing Up Issue: Is there any fix yet
Luckily, the developers are aware of the issue, as they responded to a player’s complaint, saying that an Xbox account is needed to play the game and that they are looking into the mouse disappearing issue. They have also suggested a workaround, which we have discussed below, along with other player-suggested fixes.
Dev suggested fix
Here is what the developers have suggested: When logging into your Xbox account, press Alt + Enter to switch the game to Windowed mode. When in the windowed mode, try and click the “Connect” button and proceed. This should let you continue but if it doesn’t, try the workarounds given below.
Press Windows button
For those affected, if the cursor isn’t showing up during the “Connect to Xbox Network” screen, there is a solution that has worked for a lot of players. To do this, just press the Windows key to minimize the error screen and re-enable the cursor. Once the cursor is visible, click the “Connect to Xbox Network” button to proceed!
Alt+tab
On a PC, use Alt+Tab to switch to the desktop, then move your mouse approximately to where the yellow “Connect” button is located on the game’s screen. Use Alt+Tab again to return to the game and click. If nothing happens, repeat the process, slightly adjusting your mouse position each time, until you successfully click the button. A tedious workaround, no doubt, but something that just might work.
Disable Joysticks
You may face cursor issues if you have multiple joysticks connected to your PC, most likely due to joystick interference. To fix this, disconnect or disable your joysticks temporarily. This should restore the mouse cursor, allowing you to sign in without the cursor continuously scrolling. Once you’ve successfully signed in, you can reconnect your joysticks and proceed with the game.
Multiple Monitors fix
If you have multiple monitor setups, open a window, like Notepad, on your secondary monitor while the game runs on your primary monitor. Use Alt+Tab to switch between Notepad and the game, but keep the mouse pointer on the primary monitor. While on the Notepad screen, move the pointer to hover over the desired button in the game (without clicking). Then, Alt+Tab back into the game. Although the pointer will disappear, the button will still register the click. You can also repeat this trick for additional clicks if you need them later!
Tab and Space/Enter keys
Here is another simple workaround if your mouse cursor is invisible during installation: you can navigate the interface using the Tab key to cycle through options and the Spacebar or the Enter key to select them! Although the cursor remains invisible, this straight-up eliminates the need for a mouse cursor.
Those are all the potential fixes that should help you with the missing cursor issue in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. We hope that these workarounds were useful.
