Miasma Chronicles is here to scratch that Xcom itch you have been unable to satisfy. Made by the team behind Mutant Year Zero, the game saw its launch on 23 May 2023. Sweden-based The Bearded Ladies has more than enough experience in developing turn-based tactical role-playing games and Miasma Chronicles seems to be another great title from the studio. Now, since it has been released on PC, many are wondering if it will be compatible with the Steam Deck.
In just a matter of one year, the Steam Deck has become a popular handheld gaming device. As such, more and more developers are trying to get their games on the Deck. Games like Doom Eternal and Horizon Forbidden West are already Deck verified, with more on the way. So, is Miasma Chronicles compatible with the Steam Deck? Let’s find out!
Miasma Chronicles Steam Deck Compatibility Details & More
At the time of writing this article, 505Games’ Miasma Chronicles isn’t Steam Deck verified. The game is under the “Unknown” category right now as we are yet to see reports of the game running on the Deck. However, a dev on the Miasma Chronicles team did confirm that they will look into Steam Deck support post-launch, provided there’s enough demand from the community.
Steam has four compatibility categories – Verified, Playable, Unsupported, and Unknown. Verified games don’t need any special tweaking to be playable and can run right out of the box. Playable games require users to mess around with the settings so that the game can run. Unsupported ones aren’t playable on Steam Deck and Unknown ones are yet to be properly checked if they run flawlessly or not. Miasma Chronicles is currently under that “Unknown” category. But we are sure that we will soon get to know if it’s playable or unsupported.
The latest major game to become Steam Deck Verified was Stunlock Studios’ The Outlast Trials. And considering AAA games like Elden Ring, Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 and more are already verified on the Deck, we believe that Miasma Chronicles will be playable on the Deck as well. However, getting Steam Deck Verification is an entirely different thing. If the devs realize that there’s a considerable push from the community for Steam Deck then they would be more than happy to make the game Steam Deck Verified.
Another crucial thing here is that Miasma Chronicles isn’t that demanding. The Steam Deck is more than capable of handling AAA titles, so running this on it wouldn’t be that much of a hassle. For now, players would need to wait for some time until 505Games announces their plans regarding the same.
