The long-awaited release of 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man sequel is finally here. Released on October 20, 2023, as an exclusive title for the PlayStation 5, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 takes place ten months after the events of the previous title, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Once again, the fate of New York and countless lives are at stake in SM2, as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will need to team up in order to go against the classic Spider-Man villain, Venom. However, for some players, the usual superhero shenanigans are on hold due to a plethora of issues currently plaguing SM2. Chief among them is the No Audio/Sound Not Working issue.
The problem here speaks for itself. For whatever reason, some players can’t seem to get proper audio, no matter how much they try. And not getting access to the in-game audio or dialogue is a bummer, as this severely affects the impact of the overall story. So, is there a fix for this issue yet? Continue reading to find out!
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 No Audio/Sound Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet (PS5)
Insomniac is yet to acknowledge this issue, so for now, you will have to make do with the following workarounds:
Restart the game –
Well, you should go ahead and do this basic troubleshooting first before trying other workarounds. Just perform a quick restart of the game after manually saving your in-game progress and see if the audio works again or not. If not, then you can also perform a restart of the console.
Set the console audio to Dolby –
You can try switching the audio format of your PS5 console to curb this issue. To start, you need to:
- Head to the Home Screen of your PS5 and select Settings (cogwheel icon) > Sound.
- Now, you will have five main options: Microphone, Audio Output, 3D Audio for TV Speakers, 3D Audio for Headphones, and Volume. Select Audio Output.
- Switch to the right side, and keep scrolling down until you see the Audio Format (Priority) option. Click on it, and you will have four options to choose from: Linear PCM, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio, and DTS.
- First, choose Dolby Atmos and check whether the issue remains. If yes, then choose a different setting and check again.
Do basic checks –
Players should ensure that they haven’t accidentally muted both the game sound and TV audio. If you’ve got an external speaker installed, see to it that the cables are connected properly. You can even try changing cables if you have an extra one lying around.
Install Language Pack –
Sometimes a game will need to install a language in order for its audio to work properly. The same might be the case here. So, what you need to do is install the corresponding language pack by clicking on SM2’s game tile and selecting Manage Game Content. Now, all you need to do is select the language pack of your choice and wait for the download to be over. Once it’s properly installed, launch the game and see if the issue persists.
Update –
Players who have the disc version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are highly recommended to download the Day 1 patch. It has some fixes and your usual general improvements. So, update the game and then check if the audio is working or not. Additionally, you should also update the PS5, if there’s an update available.
Disable 3D Audio –
This workaround is a common method for dealing with a myriad of sound-related issues on the PS5. We suggest you try this too. And it’s pretty easy to disable 3D audio. All you need to do is:
- Go to the Home Screen of your PS5 and select Settings.
- From the available options presented to you, scroll down and choose Sound.
- Next, click on Audio Output and toggle off the “Enable 3D Audio for Headphones” option.
- Now, launch the game and check whether the issue persists.
Well, we hope you were able to fix this issue in the game with the help of these workarounds.
