There are many custom ROMs available in the market. Lineage OS is one of the biggest names in the custom ROMs. While many of you might not know, this is the same ROM which started in the name CyanogenMod. In the Fall of 2016, Cyanogen Inc. announced that they are closing this project and shutting their infrastructure. Since then the developers have kept the project alive but under a new name, Lineage OS. Now, they have the largest community of developers and this ROM officially supports over 190 devices.
LineageOS comes with a lot of functionality and customization options available and it is one of the best custom ROMs out there. It’s latest stable version Lineage OS 17.1 is based on Android 10 Q. We have a fair idea that by the end of this year, i.e., December 2020, we will get a stable release of LineageOS 18.
While most of the features may already be available on Android 11 but still, we can expect a lot of new features in the upcoming version. Lineage OS gives you a clean, pure, and close to Android 18 look but with added features and customization features.
