Studio 397, the developers behind rFactor 2, just recently released their latest title on February 20, 2024: Le Mans Ultimate. Launched as an early access title, the game’s been receiving some good reviews, with huge praise going to its visuals and gameplay. Now that the game is such a fresh release, there’s a lot about it that players don’t know but want to. And a major question the players have regarding Le Mans Ultimate is whether it can be played on the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, Asus Rog Ally, MacOS, and Linux systems.
While PC handhelds have skyrocketed in popularity since the release of the Steam Deck, macOS, and Linux gaming continue to be a niche part of the gaming sphere. However, Linux gaming has grown quite a lot thanks to the Steam Deck too. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been the same case with macOS. And many fans are expecting that, besides being playable on other platforms, Le Mans Ultimate can be enjoyed on macOS too. So, without much further ado, let’s go ahead and find out if you can play Le Mans Ultimate on Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, Asus Rog Ally, macOS, and Linux.
Le Mans Ultimate Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go, Asus Rog Ally, MacOS/Linux Support Details
As of now, Studio 397’s Le Mans Ultimate isn’t supported for the Steam Deck at all. It is certainly a massive disappointment for many fans but it is what it is. Currently, the ProtonDB page of the game has only one report for the Steam Deck section and it states, – Only initial splash screen of “Studio 397” showed up and that’s it. So, while the game can be installed on the Deck, it doesn’t work. However, one player mentioned in a Steam Discussion post that the game works for them, with someone else suggesting that it could be due to Proton GE. Unfortunately, we can’t be sure if that’s true or not without more confirmation from other players or something like a video. Plus, with the developers specifically stating that Le Mans Ultimate is not supported for Steam Deck and Linux, we don’t really need much in the way of evidence.
As for both Legion Go and the Rog Ally, there’s nothing shared by other players that suggests the game is running on these handhelds. However, the Legion Go and Rog Ally are pretty capable devices running on Windows OS, so they should be able to handle the game. While the game might be playable on Legion Go and Rog Ally, it certainly isn’t on MacOS. Apple’s continued reluctance to support and expand MacOS gaming has now added another new victim and this time it’s Le Mans Ultimate. So, if you are planning to enjoy Le Mans Ultimate, better enjoy it on Windows, and drop your hopes for both Linux and MacOS for the time being.
