After more than two decades, the third mainline entry into the long-running Jagged Alliance series is finally here. Developed by Haemimont Games and published by THQ Nordic, Jagged Alliance 3 is the successor to 1999’s critically acclaimed TRPG title, Jagged Alliance 2. The third game in the series was officially launched on July 14, 2023, and has already become a hit among fans. Special praise has been given to the game’s gameplay mechanics, especially the combat and management aspects. Only launched for Windows, we have yet to receive any news on a console port. In the meantime, you can enjoy the game with your friends, as it offers an online co-op mode as well. But, do you know how to invite friends and play with them?
Jagged Alliance 3 is the perfect game to play if you want something akin to the XCOM games. One of the many great things about this newest title is that it allows players to play with their friends and family. While playing the game solo can certainly be fun, there are many in the community who want to try it out with their loved ones. And so, here’s everything you need to know about playing Jagged Alliance 3 with friends.
Jagged Alliance 3: How to Play with Friends
One of the key features of Jagged Alliance 3 is that the game allows both you and your friend to play together and finish the entire campaign through online co-op. All you need to do is send an invite, wait for your friend to accept it, and join in. Players are given the option to either continue their ongoing campaign or start a new one for their new co-op journey. Moreover, you can invite the other player whenever you want during your playthrough.
If the second player leaves your game abruptly, don’t worry. You can continue on without them. The game was designed this way so that players have seamless play sessions without major interruptions. One quick thing about the co-op that you should know is that Player 2 isn’t allowed to bring their own soldiers into Player 1’s game. When Player 2 joins in, they will take control of some of Player 1’s own units (units will be assigned by Player 1) and use them as they please. However, Player 1 can still override control for units if they want to.
What About Local CO-OP?
Unfortunately, local co-op isn’t supported in Jagged Alliance 3. As of writing this article, the game only supports online co-op for two players. The local co-op feature would have been such a cool feature to try and use, but sadly, the developers have yet to implement it. Furthermore, there hasn’t been any announcement about the release of a local co-op mode so far.
In the future, if we do get announcements on local co-op support in Jagged Alliance 3, we will let you know. Anyway, we do certainly hope that this guide has given you all the information you need about playing with friends in Jagged Alliance 3. For more guides like this, follow DigiStatement.
