Is Zangoose Rare in Pokemon Go (2024)

On July 6, 2016, Niantic released Pokemon Go for Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. And the rest is history. The game was steadily released in other regions and quickly went on to become a cultural phenomenon. And while it’s lost quite a bit of hype around it, the game’s still the best AR title right now. New Pokemon continue to be introduced in Pokemon Go, and there are a lot of them, to be honest. With so many of them, it’s better to know just how rare a Pokemon you want to catch is. And if the Pokemon you are looking to catch is Zangoose, then keep reading this guide.

Zangoose is a Normal-type Pokemon from Generation III. It doesn’t evolve from any Pokemon and neither evolves into another. One of the major reasons for its popularity in the community is its feud against the Poison-type Pokemon – Seviper. A rivalry rivaling the likes of Kyogre & Groudon and Reshiram & Zekrom. Its in-game description is as stated below:

Cat Ferret Pokémon

Memories of battling its archrival Seviper are etched into every cell of Zangoose’s body. This Pokémon adroitly dodges attacks with incredible agility.

So, is Zangoose rare to catch in Pokemon Go? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.

Is Zangoose Rare in Pokemon Go (2024)

Zangoose debuted in Pokemon Go back on December 8th, 2017. The Pokemon was part of the main release of Hoenn-region Pokemon in the game, released alongside the likes of Torchic, Slaking, Azuril, Mawile, Grumpig, and many many more. There was also, of course, its arch-rival, Seviper.

Besides its regular variant, a Shiny variant is also available for players to catch in the game. This Shiny form of Zangoose was released at the start of World Tourism Day back on September 26th, 2019. As for a Shadow form, none currently exists in the game. Now, let’s take a look at some of its stats in Pokemon Go:

Base Stats
  • Attack: 222
  • Defense: 124
  • Stamina: 177
  • Max CP: 2733
Weakness and Resistance
  • Weak to Fighting (160%)
  • Resistant to Ghost (39.1%)

How Rare is Zangoose?

The answer to this question is very rare. Zangoose, along with its sworn enemy, Seviper, is one of the few Pokemon in Pokemon Go who currently happen to be region-exclusive. As of writing this, Zangoose is only available in three regions: Europe, Asia, and Australia. However, before January 5th, 2018, Zangoose was exclusive to the regions of the Americas and Africa. So, if you want to catch Zangoose right now, you need to be in any of the aforementioned three regions (Europe, Asia, and Australia). The ongoing Rivals Week event in Pokemon Go is making a select few Pokemon appear more in the wild, including Zangoose and Seviper. So, if you want to catch a Zangoose, better do it right now, as both Zangoose and Seviper’s appearance rates will go back to normal on May 6 at 10:00 am.

Well, that’s all the information we have on this. You can also take a quick look here if you want to know how to change avatar gender in Pokemon Go. And for more such content, keep following DigiStatement. Also read: Top 5 & Best Pokemon Go accessories to have in 2024
