Nacon, the publisher of the first Overpass game, released a trailer for their upcoming game, Overpass 2, on May 17, 2023. The sequel comes with improved graphics, five unique environments, and much more. Releasing on October 19, 2023, Overpass 2 is slated to arrive on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. And it’s due to this that some players have been left confused, as there’s no indication of a PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch release in the official reveal trailer.
Overpass, the first game in the series, was released on PS4, Xbox One, Windows, and Switch. As such, players thought that the same would happen with the sequel, along with its release on current-gen consoles. And now that Nacon has published a reveal trailer for Overpass 2, players are unable to find a release date for the game on the last-generation consoles. So, is Overpass 2 coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch? Let’s find out!!
Is there an Overpass 2 PS4, Xbox One, & Nintendo Switch Release Date
At the time of writing this article, there hasn’t been any confirmation of Overpass 2 releasing on PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch. Right now, the game is only confirmed for the current generation of consoles and PCs. Although it is releasing on October 19, 2023, this release will not see the game launch on last-generation consoles.
But is there any possibility that Overpass 2 gets released on PS4, Xbox One, & Nintendo Switch? Well, not quite. Overpass, the first game in the series, did release on PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. But that game was developed by Zordix Racing. This time, it’s the Belgian video game development studio: Neopica. So, they might have scrapped the idea of releasing Overpass 2 on these consoles.
Our thoughts on Overpass 2’s release on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch
From the trailer that was published on May 18, 2023, it looks like Neopica has done a pretty good job of developing the game for the current-gen consoles. This leads to a question: Will the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch be able to handle this game? The PS4 and Xbox One probably could, but we have some serious doubts about it running on the Switch. The handheld console is already in its sixth year with a chipset that can’t even rival the average smartphone in terms of performance. The PS4 and Xbox One may be last gen, but they still pack a punch and have more than enough capabilities to run Overpass 2. So, right now, all we can do is wait for official confirmation.
We would be sure to update this article in the future if the devs announce an Overpass 2 port for PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. Meanwhile, you can follow DigiStatement to get the latest on everything gaming.
