The Metroidvania renaissance continues to reach new heights with new and unique game releases. There’s a lot of fun Metroidvania releasing this year, and Rock Pocket Games’ upcoming title – Somber Echoes, happens to be one of them. Officially announced via a reveal trailer in March 2024, Somber Echoes is a sci-fi Metroidvania set aboard the Greco-Roman spaceship – Atromitos. You will be playing as the resurrected Adrestia and will embark on a mission to prevent your twin sister from “unraveling the universe”. Everything from the gorgeous visuals to the fluid combat screams high quality and suffice it to say, Metroidvania fans are very excited for the game’s release. So much so that many of them want to know when the game will be released for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
From Hollow Knight and Axiom Verge to Blasphemous and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the Metroidvania genre has seen an incredible number of great games over the past few decades. The trend continues to this day, with 2024 alone seeing the release of titles like Prince of Peria: The Lost Crown and Momodara: Moonlit Farewell. And from what we have seen so far, Somber Echoes is also looking to be yet another solid entry into the genre. The game’s already scheduled for a PC release, but some fans want to know when they will be able to enjoy it on consoles. So, let’s go ahead and find out.
Is there a Somber Echoes PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch Release Date
Well, at the time of publishing this, Somber Echoes doesn’t have a PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or Nintendo Switch release date. In fact, the game hasn’t been announced for consoles at all. For now, the game remains a PC-only title with a scheduled release in the fall of 2024.
Apart from the game’s premise and gameplay, there’s very little information available on Somber Echoes right now. Furthermore, both the developer Rock Pocket Games and publisher Bonus Stage have also refrained from stating anything related to Somber Echoes’ possible console versions. Plus, with there being no official Discord right now, the developers haven’t really communicated anything with the community.
There are still a few good months left before the game’s scheduled release, so it’s possible that the developers might announce something console-related before that. However, there’s also another possibility that Rock Pocket might just ditch any console plans and simply release the game for PC first and then move on to consoles if they find it feasible enough. All in all, there’s just too much uncertainty hanging over Somber Echoes’s console release.
