The PC Demo version of Rose and Locket is scheduled for release in October 2022, but will the game be released for other mainstream platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch? Rose and Locket is an action-adventure Metroidvania game based on Mexican folklore currently being developed by Whistling Wizard an independent studio, and scheduled to be published by CRITICAL REFLEX. Metroidvania games like Rose and Locket are usually designed to be played in 2D. They involve players progressing through an outlined map and collecting items while unlocking new abilities and skills along the way.
The map expands too to accommodate new challenges as players upscale in the game and it takes some time before players can get to the end of the map, and subsequently the end of the game. In the game, players assume the role of the protagonist named Rose, an ex-gunslinger who vowed to abandon the outlaw life after the birth of her daughter. She is forced to break her vow after her daughter’s soul is trapped in a silver locket by evil beings from the land of the dead. Players guide her as she descends into the Underwest as she goes on a mission to rescue her daughter’s soul while keeping herself alive. The game requires a lot of adaptability and quick reflexes to avoid traps and not-so-pleasant surprises featured in the game.

CRITICAL REFLEX released a trailer for the game at the Summer of Gaming 2022 with an announcement of a Demo release in October 2022. The Demo version will be released for PC via Steam and though the precise date for the full launch of the game has not been released, it is obvious from the previous publishing patterns of CRITICAL REFLEX that the game will be fully released at least 3 months after the Demo version is out. Unfortunately, nothing was mentioned about releasing the game for major consoles and platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
