Hive is a Minecraft server that was started eight years ago. This server has been a success when it got enough funding to run its servers on java. But lately, Hive is not having enough resources to continue with its java edition. The java edition of Hive is closing its doors on 15th April 2021. They also mentioned that it would have shut down a few years ago if bedrock didn’t fund them at that time. They said that according to their current technology, hosting 3000 concurrent Java players is costing more than hosting 30,000 bedrock players.

They have also announced in their recent post that In the coming months, they will create and release an open-source version of Trouble in Mineville and a lite version of our minigame framework on GitHub. Community members can update, add new features, and maintain the game. This will be free for the players to use for any purpose. You will also find a collection of maps that they have made over time. They cannot host any community maps, as they wouldn’t want to assume permission for this.
Adding more to the announcement, they also mentioned that the ranks will not get decreased from now on. It means that, till the server is open, your rank will not get decreased which would be expiring. The players who have bought Emerald or Ultimate can claim free Hive+ rank on the bedrock server.
