When it comes to virtual motorsports, there are not many options for serious fans to dive into. iRacing is one of the more popular ones that has made its mark in the virtual racing landscape. The game has been coming out with regular updates to keep it fresh. Recently, patch 1 for Season 3 has been rolled out and many players like yourself are curious as to what changes this patch has brought to the game. The 2024 Season 3 Patch 1 was released on June 7th, 2024. This update brings many changes and fixes to improve iRacing. It includes the addition of Barney, tuning for damaged models on several cars, and fixes for important stability issues to uphold fair competition. That being said, in the following paragraphs, we have shared all about these updates in detail and how they will impact your racing experience as we gear up for Week 1 racing.

Simulation
- iRacing Weather System: Improved windshield condensation and faster raindrop texture generation.
- Race Control: Fixed Pace Car joining Rallycross and Fred is not allowed on Rallycross tracks because of what happened back in 2017
- Engine: Limited drivetrain torques to prevent crashes.
- Dirt Racing: Slightly relaxed “out of control” threshold.
- Time Trial: Unified laps for valid runs.
- Track Configs Less than 2 miles = 8 Laps
- Track Configs Greater than 2 miles = 5 Laps
- Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans = 2 Laps
- All Nürburgring Nordschleife (and Combined) Configs = 1 Lap
- Graphics: Fixed shiny track surfaces.
- Spotter: Updated pronouns for clarity and added samples to the Portuguese pack.
Car changes
- NASCAR Cup Series Next Gen Series Car: iRacing setups are now updated for this.
- NASCAR Truck Series Trucks: Side skirt damage is less repairable; right-side skirts are less likely to get damaged; and the iRacing setups have been updated.
- Street Stocks: Changes have been made to make the engine and fluid parts tougher. Brakes have been updated, making it easier to stop from the front but harder from the back. They fixed a problem with how the front camera looks. Also, they updated the setups for the cars to match these changes.
- Acura ARX-06 GTP: Maximum front heave spring displacement of 25mm imposed.
- Aston Martin DBR9 GT1: Tuned scrape damage on rear panels.
- Aston Martin Vantage GT4: Fixed rear bumper and wet tire appearance issues; headlight switch appears active in rainy weather.
- Audi R18: Fixed tyre display issue in UI renders.
- BMW M4 GT4: Fixed rain aerospray and rear windshield flickering issues.
- Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Various fixes have been made to the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3. They corrected the Fuel per Lap display, IMSA digits now show green for GTD, and taillights won’t vanish at certain camera views. The rearview camera screen now appears outside the cockpit. Also, opponent vehicles no longer wrongly show an active ABS warning light, and the fuel cap is visible in UI renders. iRacing setups have been updated accordingly.
- Dirt Sprint Car, Dirt Sprint Car Non-Winged, Dirt Street Stock: Fixed RPM digit rendering for these Dirt cars.
- FIA F4: iRacing setups for this has been updated.
- Ford Mustang GT3: Fixes to the Ford Mustang GT3 include pit stop adjustments that now consistently work, and the roof collision hull has been raised and stiffened for better damage modeling. The rear wing and trunk can now be fully detached. Issues with the digital display of the brake bias state and pit speed overspeed bar have been resolved and the display problems with the window banner and rain aerospray inside the cockpit in mirrors have been fixed. The IMSA decal layer is also appropriately used for IMSA events. Finally, the rotor glow texture has been updated for improved visuals.
- Global Mazda MX-5 Cup: Fixed crash with right-side tire change along with the windshield texture.
- Honda Civic Type R TCR: Fixed tire rim appearance; added missing hood latches.
- Ligier JS P320: Corrected cockpit dashboard illumination in rainy weather.
- Lucas Oil Off Road Pro Trucks: Fixed the dark appearance of wet tires.
- McLaren 570S GT4: Fixed missing rainlights.
- McLaren MP4-12C GT3: iRacing setups updated.
- Mercedes-AMG GT4: Rain lights now correctly disappear when the trunk is detached, and lower fidelity rain lights now appear at long camera distances. The headlight switch now shows as active during rainy weather.
- Modified – SK / NASCAR Whelen Tour Modified: Reduced force damage to engine compartment.
- NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Camry: Fixed tire and rim alignment issues, and they now look more accurate and aligned.
- Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR: Fixed windshield reflections and rain light issues.
- Porsche Mission R: Fixed excessive cockpit windshield glare.
- SRX: iRacing setups updated.
- [Legacy] NASCAR Cup Chevrolet Impala COT – 2009: iRacing setups have been updated.
Track Changes
- Circuit of the Americas: Updated curbs for better headlight illumination at night.
- Circuito de Jerez, Ángel Nieto: Barney now waves the checkered flag at the correct spot.
- Circuito de Navarra: Barney has arrived; adjusted gain-time checkpoint for Turn 11; fixed exploits and collision issues.
- Nürburgring: Fixed corner curb not receiving headlight illumination.
- Oswego Speedway: Adjusted asphalt color and roughness; updated poplar trees.
- Sachsenring: Barney has arrived here as well; added the missing office buildings and trees; updated banners and textures; and fixed floating crowds and tents.
Hotfix 1
This release addresses an important issue with the Acura ARX-06 GTP, making sure that the front heave spring deflection value is correctly set according to the setup. Previously, this issue caused the vehicle to fail all Tech inspections. Along with this, a fix has also been implemented on the opponent’s cars so that they display the correct wing angle settings based on the driver’s configuration.
