How to use proximity mines in GTA 5 on PS4, PS5, Xbox & PC versions of the game

Proximity mines are an amazing tool in GTA 5 when you’re looking to cause some mischief and blow stuff up. They can be used to set traps or just straight up blow other people’s vehicles up in the game. Let’s look at how to use them.

Proximity mines are not readily available in your inventory and have to be purchased from Ammu-Nation. They cost about 1,000$ per piece but are well worth the price. Here’s how to use them.

  • To use a proximity mine, first equip it from your weapon wheel. They can be found by cycling through the grenade section of the weapon wheel.
  • To activate a proximity mine, all you have to do is throw it like you would throw a grenade.
  • Once you throw one of these, it will stick to the surface of anything. They will blow up on their own when a vehicle or a player gets within their proximity.

It is important to make sure that you are standing far away from the proximity mine or you can accidentally blow yourself up. Proximity mines hold up pretty well when compared to their old counterparts.  They are cheap and are a lot of fun to use when you’re trying to intercept vehicles or get out of a car chase. Just throw a proximity mine out the window of your car and watch the chaos unfold. Proximity mines function identically on all major platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC.
