The input lag on the Nintendo Switch varies from TVs of different manufacturers and numerous things that can contribute to the issue such as the refresh rate of your TV and wireless interference which may hinder the connection between your Joy-cons and the Nintendo Switch. Games like super smash bros often require precise timing and if the console fails to register your input from your controller at the correct time, the experience is ruined pretty fast.

How to fix input lag on Nintendo Switch.

If you’ve tried to do everything in your power to fix the input lag and if it still persists, do not worry as it can be easily fixed and requires a couple of steps to be followed. After thorough research and trial and error, we’ve found a few things that you can try. If you’re playing a competitive FPS or a hack and slash game, reduced input lag is mandatory for an enjoyable experience. Follow the steps below to do so.

  • In your TV settings, go to the Menu options. In the System settings, tap on the General option. Here, enable Game Mode. The settings might vary if you have a TV from a different manufacturer so a simple google search will tell you where the setting is on your TV.

Play on a monitor

Another way you can reduce the input lag on your Nintendo Switch is by playing on a monitor as many of them support HDMI. You can also try playing on your Nintendo Switch screen as you’ll notice the inputs are registered much faster. Try out every method mentioned in this article and see which works out better for you.
