NetEase Games is out with their latest game, co-partnered with Waner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Titled Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, the game, as the name itself clearly suggests, is a new addition to the Harry Potter franchise. The astounding success of Hogwarts Legacy has instilled a newfound interest in both the Harry Potter franchise and the larger Wizarding World. Magic Awakened had already seen its launch in China back in 2021, with more countries seeing its release later in Q1 2023. And now the global release is here as Harry Potter: Magic Awakened made its way into Android and iOS on June 27, 2023. However, there are fans who want to play the game on PC too, if possible. If you have the same desire as well, consider reading this guide until the end.
Mobile gaming has expanded exponentially over the past decade, and it has a market share larger than both consoles and PCs combined. No wonder more and more studios are wanting to tap this market. Harry Potter: Magic Awakened may be a mobile title, but it can be played on PC. How? Let’s find out!
How to play Harry Potter: Magic Awakened on PC
As explained earlier, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is a mobile-only game. As such, you will not be able to play the game natively on your PC. And this is where emulators come to the rescue. But what is an emulator? In simple words, an emulator is a software or hardware (in a few cases) that functions like another system in order to run software native to the original system. PlayStation 2, Wii, and Switch all have their own emulators, and Android also has them. So, if you want to play Harry Potter: Magic Awakened on PC, you will need to do so using an Android emulator. There are many such emulators, but BlueStacks is objectively better than others. So, here are the steps you need to follow to play HPMA on PC:
Note: A PC version of Harry Potter Magic Awakened is also available to download on the game’s official website. However, the PC client is for the Asian region. So, if you don’t belong to this region, you will have to use an emulator to run the game on your PC. The good news is that a PC client for the global version of the game is scheduled to release soon.
- To start, go to the official BlueStacks website and download the emulator for your PC.
- Next, install the emulator and open it. The emulator isn’t that big, so don’t worry about a long installation time.
- Once installed, open the emulator. On the main screen, you will see the Google Play Store along with things like Game Center and System Apps. Select the Google Play Store to proceed.
- At this point, we recommend you either make a new Google account or sign in using your already existing one, since you will not be able to download anything without it.
- After you are signed in, head to the Play Store, type “Harry Potter: Magic Awakened” on the search bar, and then download the game.
- The game icon will appear on the main screen after it is installed. Just click on it, and voila! You can now play Harry Potter: Magic Awakened on PC.
One more thing we would like to inform our readers is that Google has recently started the beta program for Google Play Games on PC. You can check the official website to see if the beta is available in your region. Do note that since it’s in beta right now, the game selection is pretty limited. So, Harry Potter Magic Awakened might be supported by it, for now.
