How to fix PS4 Controller not charging in rest mode

The PS4 is a gaming console that is a bit old but still popular among gamers. Many players still use the PS4 as their primary gaming console since this was a revolutionary product back in its days. It has been currently replaced by the new and mighty PS5. The PS4, being a bit old, has a lower price compared to the newly launched PS5. That’s why many users go for the PS4 instead of the costly PS5. PS4 best describes the saying “Old but gold”. If you have a PS4 or any other PS series console, you will know that its controller is the main thing that helps in operating the PS console. It is more like a mouse and keyboard that can be used to play games and navigate in between menus.

The primary controller that is available for the PS4 console is the DualShock 4 controller, which is one of the top console controllers that are available on the market. The controller uses wireless technology to connect to your PS4 and runs on a rechargeable battery. So, if you want to enjoy your games without any intervention, then you need to make sure that your controller is charged. But, some players have reported that their PS4 Controller is not charging in rest mode. Are you facing the same problem? Don’t worry as we have a solution for you. In this article, we will show you how you can easily charge your controller through your PS4 while it is in rest mode.

Now let’s see how you can easily charge your controller through your PS4 while it is in rest mode.

  1. First, try resetting your controller. At the back of your controller, you will find a small pinhole at the top. Now go ahead and stick a small needle in there and hold it down for about 3 or 4 seconds, and your controller will reset.
  2. Then try using a different USB cable and a different USB port on the front of your PlayStation. Now plug in one part of your USB cable to the USB port and the other part to your PS4 controller. If you have been using a USB hub, it may be one of the reasons that it is not drawing enough power to your controller, and it’s not charging.
  3. Now you have to make some changes in the PS settings, otherwise, it may not charge your controller.
  4.  Visit the home screen of your PS4. Then go to the Settings option in the top right-hand corner of your screen.
  5. In the Settings window, scroll down, and go to the Power Save Settings and click on it.
  6. Then go to Set Features available in Rest mode, and select it.
  7. Make sure the Supply Power to USB Ports option is turned on. If it is off, then set it to on.
  8. Now select the Supply Power to USB Ports option again. You will find three options pop up on the right side of your screen. These options are Always, 3 Hours, and Off.
  9. Now you can choose any option according to your requirements. If you want your controller to charge always while it is connected to your PS4, then select Always. Otherwise, if you want it to charge for only 3 hours then select the 3 Hours option.

You can also charge your PS4 controller with any of your phone chargers if you do not want your PS4 to remain on while you charge its controller. Now you should be ready to get back to your gaming session.
