ESPN, also known as Entertainment and Sports Programming Network is a well-known basic cable sports channel. ESPN Inc. is the owner of this channel and is also jointly owned by The Walt Disney Company and Hearst Communications. It was initially founded in 1979 by Bill Rasmussen with his son Scott Rasmussen and Ed Egan. Since September 2018, the channel is available to around 86 million television households in United States. Along with flagship channel and seven related channels at United States, the channel broadcasts in more than 200 countries.
ESPN has been operating regional channels at Australia, Brazil, Latin America and United Kingdom. It broadcasts normally from studio facilities situated at Bristol, Connecticut. It also has been operating offices at Miami, New York City, Seattle, Charlotte and Los Angeles. The chairman of this sports network is James Pitaro and has held the position since 5th March, 2018 after John Skipper resigned on 18th December, 2017. The channel has also been criticized for biased coverage, conflict of interest and controversies with individual broadcasters and analysts.
The history and rise of ESPN was also covered in a non-fiction book named ‘Those Guys Have All the Fun’ and it was written by James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales and it was published by Little, Brown and Company. It also has the ESPN app which offers you access to scores, news, sports radio, podcasts, on-demand library and those games and programming that is not found on the cable channels of ESPN.
But despite being a very popular sports network, the app of ESPN has been experiencing a lot of issues from a very long time. One of them is an error where users are unable to play videos. The error pops up as “there was an error that prevented this video from playing”. This has been an issue for irritation for many people. While streaming any video on the ESPN app, users experience this error. Users said that they have paid the subscription price and still when they try to play any video, the error appears saying that something prevented the video from playing. It has happened while playing some selected videos and not in terms of every video. Users said that the error has occurred in both live video as well as replay videos.
The huge disappointment is that there has been no official statement from ESPN on how to solve this issue. Still, if it is bothering you a lot, you can follow these steps to fix the issue by yourself –
- Remove the app and install it again.
- Reboot and restart your phone.
- Check the network coverage of your area.
- Go to your phone settings, clear the data of the app, restart it and check if the problem has been solved.
- Switch off your mobile data or Wi-Fi connection for a few minutes, turn it on, launch the app and see if the issue has been fixed.
