How to enable WhatsApp fingerprint lock on Android phone?

WhatsApp is the most popular instant messaging app. The app requires an internet connection, and the facilities that come along have extremely made life easier. WhatsApp functions all the features like texting, audio/ video/ image sharing, and even supports call facilities. International calls are no longer a pain in the nerves as you can “WhatsApp call” anybody across the globe. Fun fact is, instant messaging is the most used application online, but there are hardly any new apps coming app as the users have gotten so used to WhatsApp that it will take another gen for people to start looking for other apps.

WhatsApp has made the application more secure by adding a dedicated fingerprint lock feature to enhance user security and privacy. Check out the requirements before proceeding to learn the steps to enable the WhatsApp fingerprint lock.

WhatsApp Fingerprint Lock Requirements-

  • Update WhatsApp to the latest version possible.
  • The Android OS that your device runs on should be a version running on Android 6+.
  • Your smartphone should have a fingerprint scanner/ facility.
  • Fingerprint unlock must be enabled in the main settings of your Android mobile.
  • WhatsApp fingerprint lock is not available for Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Steps to enable WhatsApp fingerprint lock-

It is very easy to enable the WhatsApp fingerprint lock if your device meets all the mentioned requirements. Follow the simple instructions given below to enable the WhatsApp fingerprint lock.

Step 1-

Open WhatsApp and click more options (which are the three dots aligned vertically on the top-right corner).

Step 2-

Navigate to Settings > Account > Privacy. Scroll down below to locate and tap on the option “Fingerprint Lock.”

Step 3-

Turn on “Unlock with Fingerprint.”

Step 4-

Place your finger on the sensor and register your fingerprint.

Step 5-

You are all set to unlock your WhatsApp with your fingerprint.

Disable this feature with ease by following the same instruction but by turning off unlock with fingerprint option after Step 2.

You can set time limit too, to receive prompt for unlocking with fingerprint every now and then to ensure security. Enabling the given toggle will let you preview your messages inside the new message notification.
