However, there are minor changes that are worth being the subject of discussion.
Welcome to Pokémon Sword and Shield : Isle of Armor Meteorology 101. Following we will cover topics such as weather conditions, how they affect the game, difference between the base game and DLC weather and how to change it. We hope you’ll find this informative.
Weather Conditions
Weather is an important feature in Pokémon Sword and Shield. It is the primary factor which determines a majority of Pokémon encounters at a particular location, throughout the game. A large number of Pokémons are seen in the wild area at a specific weather of their liking. These conditions change everyday, thus adding a dynamic variety in the gameplay.
A wild area will be blooming with a bunch of Pokémons under one type of sky. Whereas, other Pokémons will be seen under a different weather at the same location. Weather conditions also have an effect on the battles, as certain types of weather impart different elemental effects. These effects can help as well as work against your team.
Weather Conditions Changes
Weather in the game is decided randomly. At the start of every month, the weather of all the locations is the same. It changes randomly for each location from the next day onwards. Certain locations have their own weather cycle such as deserts and caves. Therefore having knowledge of the sky is an important skill to possess in the game.
Base Game & DLC Weather
As mentioned earlier, there are minor differences in the weather condition mechanic between the base game and the DLC. The reason being that Isle of Armor is a tropical island unlike the Galar mainland of the base game.
This means that there are certain types of weathers which aren’t available for the DLC. This is because logically they are incompatible with the overall climate of the Isle of Armor. In the DLC, sandstorms, snowstorms and snowing aren’t available.
Also unlike the base game where weather changes start from the first of every month, the DLC weather resets on the 15th of every month.
How To Change The Weather
Changing the weather is fairly simple in the Isle of Armor. Open your Nintendo Switch system settings and head over to the bottom of the list where it reads “System”. Under System, you will find the option to change the Date and Time of your device.
You can change your date according to the following chart, courtesy of YouTuber Austin John Plays.
Once you have changed the date and eventually the weather successfully, it’s time to head out and catch some Pokémons. Click here to read the guide on weather exclusive Pokémons in Sword and Shield and Isle of Armor.
