How to change DNS Server on PS5 & Speed up download speed 1

Welcome back, gamers, to another brand new article at DigiStatement. Hope all of you are having a great day. Today we will be discussing a very important topic, mainly for PS5 users. The PS5, as we all know is a powerhouse among gaming consoles, and provides specifications like no other. The PlayStation 5 is a bit costly and also hard to get due to the sheer demand it has in the market. So, if you have one, you are one lucky guy!

The PS5 is a console that supports all sorts of games to meet every gamer’s taste and that too with impressive graphical power. But if you play multiplayer games, you will know that the speed of your internet is necessary for getting a decent ping. Sometimes you might face ping issues even if you have a decent internet connection. This is due to your DNS server. So stay with us, and we will provide a solution for you.

How to change DNS Server on PS5 & Speed up download speed

What is DNS Server and why do you need to change it?

A DNS or a Domain Name System is a system-based algorithm that helps in translating domain names into specific IP Addresses. The Internet Service Provider or ISP that you are using, provides a default DNS setting to set up your connection. But the DNS servers that your ISPs provide are far from being good, and it might be the reason for your high ping. In this case, you need fast DNS servers and for that, you have to change your DNS settings on your PS5 manually.

How to change DNS Server on PS5 & Speed up download speed

Don’t worry, we have got your back, follow these steps below, and you can easily change your DNS servers and speed up your internet speed on your PS5.

  1. Go to the home screen of your PS5. Now at the top right-hand corner of the screen, you will find the Settings option, click on it.
  2. Now go to the Network option. On the Network page, go to the Settings option.
  3. On the right side of your screen, click on Set Up Internet Connection.
  4. Now click on the current internet connection that you are using. Your Connection name will pop up under Registered networks. If you have not registered your connection, then you will find your connection name under Networks found.
  5. Press options on your connection name. Then click on Advanced Settings on the right side of your screen.
  6. Now scroll down to Primary DNS and click on it. Now type in 8.8.8.8 for the Primary DNS. Then go to Secondary DNS and click on it. Now type in 8.8.4.4. If you enter the DNS that we provided for both Primary and Secondary DNS, the server will be changed to a Google DNS server which is one of the best out there.
  7. If this works for you then it is fine, otherwise, we are providing you with another DNS server. For the Primary DNS, type in 1.1.1.1, and for the Secondary DNS type in 1.0.0.1. This is for the Cloud Fair DNS Server.
  8. If you want the Quad9 DNS server then type in 9.9.9.9 for the Primary DNS and 149.112.112.112 for the Secondary DNS.
  9. After you have typed in for any one of the servers, click on Ok.

If you want to check your internet connection speed, then go to Test Internet Connection under Connection Status. Here you will find your download and upload speeds for your set server. You can check with all the three DNS servers to find out which one is the fastest and provides you with the best results. Now you are all set up with a good internet speed using which you can download games faster.

Hope you liked our detailed explanation of the topic and found it helpful. Come back for more such amazing articles at DigiStatement.
