How to Backup Nintendo Switch games?

Nintendo Switch is a video game console developed by Nintendo. What makes it a unique gaming platform is its mobility to use. You can use it as a portable video game console as it itself is a tablet with a screen. On the other hand, you can also dock it to use as a home video game console. It is popularly known as a Hybrid Console and is very comfortable for travelers. Moreover, in this article, we are going to guide you about how to back up Nintendo Switch Games. So, here is everything you need to know.

Backup Nintendo Switch Games

The process of Backing Up Nintendo Switch Games includes several steps to follow. Here are the steps that you need to follow:

  1. Setup
    1. Download “nxdumptool.nro“
    2. Put nxDumpTool in Switch Folder on the Root directory
    3. Open nxDumpTool from Nintendo Switch. (Use App Override if possible)
  2. Dump NSP from gamecard
    1. Select “Dump gamecard content”
    2. Select “Nintendo Submission Package (NSP) dump”.
    3. Choose “Split Dump” if you have FAT32 (splits files if file greater than 4GB)
    4. Press “start” and your files will start getting dumped.
  3. Dump NSP from SD card
    1. Select installed SD card content
    2. Find the game you want to dump
    3. Select NSP dump
    4. Choose if you want to dump the base, update, or DLC
    5. Choose “Split Dump” if you have FAT32 (splits files if file greater than 4GB)
    6. Press “start”
  4. Combine NSP Files (you will see several numbers of files if you enable Split Dump)
    1. Open Command Prompt
    2. Type copy /b 00+01+02+03 name.nsp. Here 00, 01, 02, and 03 are the names of the files. Rename the name of the file accordingly.
  5. Install gamecards to switch
    1. Download “Gamecard Installer“, extract it
    2. Copy the “Switch” Folder from extracted file and paste it into the switch original folder (it will replace a file)
    3. Open Gamecard Installer from Nintendo Switch
    4. Select Install location.
