Homeworld 3 Out of Video Memory Error Is there any fix yet

So you’ve preordered Homeworld 3, all hyped up for early access before its official release on May 13th. But then, bam! You hit a snag. Many players like yourself are finding themselves stuck on a loading screen or running into an annoying “Out of Video Memory” error. It’s like trying to explore the galaxy with a busted spaceship. While we did address the infinite loading screen issue earlier, in this guide, we will take a look at the Out of  Video Memory Error and see if there is a fix available for it.

If you are not able to access the game after paying for it early, you might have thought of refunding the game altogether. But hold on to that thought! Before you rush to refund, hang on a second and give this guide a read-through. We will be going over all the available information on this issue to help you get back on track in exploring the space.

Homeworld 3 Out of Video Memory Error: Is there any fix yet

Homeworld 3 Out of Video Memory Error Is there any fix yet

As of now, there’s no official fix for the “Out of Video Memory” error in Homeworld 3, and the developers haven’t responded to the issue. While the community suspects CPU and voltage issues as the culprit, this remains unconfirmed. Despite the lack of an official solution, there are some workarounds that players have suggested. While not guaranteed to work, they are worth trying out.

Restart

A simple workaround to try first is to restart the game and then your PC. Sometimes, glitches can be resolved by simply refreshing the game’s processes and giving your PC a clean start. So before you move forward with the other workarounds mentioned below, try a restart first.

GPU related workarounds

Another workaround to consider is updating your GPU drivers. Sometimes, outdated or incompatible drivers can cause performance issues, including memory-related errors. Look for the drivers for the card you use on the manufacturer’s official website (AMD/Nvidia) and make sure you have the latest version installed. With the GPU drivers updated, type “Graphics” in the Windows search box to open the Graphics Settings menu, and from the list of installed programs that appear, select Homeworld 3 and set it to “High Performance”.

Dont Overclock

If you are one of those advanced users and like to tweak around with your CPUs and GPUs, this workaround is especially for you. So if you are into overclocking your hardware, this could be causing instability and memory-related issues, especially with certain hardware configurations. By running your CPU and GPU at their default clock speeds, you may potentially improve system stability during gameplay and hopefully solve the out-of-video memory error.

Intel BIOS Workarounds

A player shared that sometimes Intel CPUs can run at really high voltages, which can make them unstable, especially when they’re working hard. This can cause crashes, especially in games that push the CPU to its limits. To fix this, you might need to update your motherboard’s BIOS (the software that controls its functions) to make sure it’s using a lower voltage setting. This can help prevent crashes and make your CPU more stable during intense gaming sessions. If you’re not sure how to do this, you can ask your motherboard’s support team for help. Just make sure they focus on lowering the voltage, as that’s the key to solving the problem.

Throttle Stop

Here is another possible fix! This one involves using a program called ThrottleStop to adjust the power limit for the CPU. By setting the power limit to a lower value, players have reported improved stability and cooler CPU temperatures without significant performance impact.

Reinstall the Game

If none of the above-mentioned workarounds do the job for you, the only thing left to do is to reinstall the game altogether. So go ahead and uninstall the game and make sure to delete all of its residual files. Then reinstall the game, most preferably on an SSD, and hope for the best.

That said, we hope these workarounds have been helpful. For all your other gaming-related queries, make sure to stay tuned to DigiStatement. Read more: Dwarf Fortress Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion Go & Asus Rog Ally Support Details
