Looks like PlayStation’s live service gamble is starting to pay off. Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 is another big hit of 2024 and the biggest PlayStation release yet. The Steam version alone saw a 24-hour peak of about 437,391 players at the time of writing this, effectively positioning it as one of the top games on Steam (data sourced from Steam Charts). And with the recent addition of mechs to the game, it’s looking quite good for Helldivers 2’s future. However, it’s not without its fair share of issues. In fact, a lot of players have recently reported an issue where their in-game social tab doesn’t seem to work at all.
The main problem here is that some players can’t see their friends in the Social tab, while for others, the tab just appears greyed out. And for a multiplayer game, this is the kind of issue that can’t be ignored. So, is there a fix for this? Well, let’s go ahead and find out.
Helldivers 2 social tab not working: How to fix it
Players can use the following workarounds to deal with this issue. Try these and see if any of them are of help.
Turn on Crossplay –
Quite a lot of players in the community have said that turning on crossplay was what helped them fix this issue. So, if you happen to have crossplay disabled, head to in-game settings and turn it on. By chance, if this doesn’t fix this issue, check out another workaround. Additionally, you can also try turning crossplay on and off and see if that helps.
Generate Friend Code –
There’s another method that you can make use of if the previous “fix” didn’t work out. It’s basically generating and using friend codes. First, you will have to generate a friend code and share that code with your Steam friends. This will now show them in the Social tab and you will be able to invite and join friends.
Update –
Make sure that both the game and your system are up-to-date with the latest software version available. Now, we can’t really say if this will completely fix this issue, but updating is a pretty common method of dealing with issues like this, so we suggest giving it a try.
Have your friend send you an invite –
This is more of an alternative than an outright workaround. Basically, if your friend doesn’t happen to be facing the same issue, then we suggest you have your friend send you an in-game invite. That’s what some players did to circumvent this issue and we suggest you do too.
Reinstall Helldivers 2 –
In case you are still facing this issue, we suggest that you reinstall Helldivers 2. At least that’s what this player did to fix this issue. If even reinstalling doesn’t work, then there’s nothing else to do but contact support.
