Helldivers 2 continues its unstoppable climb to success despite the numerous issues plaguing the game right now. At the time of publishing this, the game had a 24-hour peak of about 196,089 players on Steam alone, and the numbers don’t seem to be dropping anytime soon. However, as we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of issues with the game right now, and the matchmaking not working issue happens to be a major one.
Arrowhead is aware of this issue and is actively looking to fix it ASAP. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only technical issue that’s been affecting players. Now, we don’t really know what’s the main cause behind this matchmaking issue. But this doesn’t mean that the issue can’t be fixed. So, without further ado, let’s go ahead and find fixes for this.
Helldivers 2 Matchmaking not working: How to fix it?
Since this is an ongoing issue, players can try the following workarounds to deal with it. Try these and see if any of them are of help.
Download patches –
As we stated before, Arrowhead is aware of this issue and has released two patches for PC and PS5 so far that address a lot of issues, including matchmaking. As such, if you haven’t installed the latest patches for Helldivers 2, go ahead and do so. Do note that many are still encountering matchmaking issues after the patch, so if you do too, then try the next workaround.
Join a lobby on a planet –
This particular workaround is suggested by Arrowhead themselves. And for this one, all you need to do is join an active lobby on a planet and hopefully that will help mitigate this issue. However, if you aren’t satisfied with this “fix”, check out the next workaround.
Throw your SOS beacon and relaunch the mission –
This bizarre workaround comes courtesy of u/Quiet-Leadership2909. In this particular workaround, players should start by loading into a mission and then dropping the SOS beacon. Once the beacon is down, quit the mission. After you are back on your ship, restart the same mission. Doing so will fill up your squad and you should be able to take on the mission with your group. Now, if somehow you can’t find the same mission, try to look for the same mission type. This also works in cases where the original mission isn’t available.
Disable crossplay –
Well, this one is pretty simple. All you need to do is disable crossplay from the in-game settings and then see if the issue persists. If it does, then take a look at the next fix. By the way, if you don’t know how to disable crossplay, just follow the instructions below:
- Open in-game settings and switch to the Gameplay option.
- Next, take a look at the right side, and just below Matchmaking Privacy, you will find Crossplay.
- Set the Crossplay option to Off. While you are at it, don’t forget to set Matchmaking Privacy to Public.
Get friends –
No. This is not real-life advice. Since the matchmaking issue is quite a big problem right now, we highly recommend that players enjoy the game with friends until Arrowhead fixes it. This way, you wouldn’t have to deal with matchmaking issues at all. However, if you don’t happen to have friends who are playing Helldivers 2, then you could try this next workaround. Additionally, you can also join the official Helldivers 2 Discord, switch to the Matchmaking channel, and find fellow players there.
Use the Quickplay option in the Automatons sector –
Well, some players have suggested using the Quickplay option in the Automatons sectors as a sort of fix for this issue. So, if you have yet to try this method, do so and see if the issue continues. If even this doesn’t help, go ahead and contact support or wait for another patch to roll out.
Anyway, that’s all the information we have on this issue right now. Additionally, you can also take a quick look here if you want to know whether Helldivers 2 has DLSS and FSR 3 support.
