Google’s Pixel lineup of devices is one of the most loved Android flagship devices. It is well known for its pixel launcher, themes, unlimited google photos storage, and much more. The device is equally known for its controversy like software bugs, hardware issues. The last time Google was in headlines was when 2XL devices faced random reboots and freezing issues. Now, Google is again in the headlines for another issue where few users of Google Pixel 4a have reported touch sensitivity problems.
Several users of Pixel 4a reached out to forums like XDA, Twitter, and Reddit to point out the touch sensitivity problems. This issue seems to mainly come out on users who use screen protectors.

It is not yet clear if this issue is available for all Pixel 4A smartphones. Users are experiencing ghost touches, unresponsive scrolling. Ghost touch is a bug where the phone automatically performs a touch function but the user hasn’t touched the screen.
In addition to this, several users also reported unresponsive scrolling, unresponsiveness in navigation gestures, and gesture-based keyboard actions. The users tried factory resetting, clearing cache, rebooting and none of them solved the issue.
Few users said that removing the screen protectors solved the issue. And few other users suggested that by setting the touch and hold delay short, the issue got resolved. You can do that by going to accessibility>touch and hold delay>short, in Settings.
According to some users, the issue started after upgrading to Android 11, and they fixed this issue by downgrading to Android 10. In addition to that, a Google Tracker user says that this ghost touch issue could be due to the absence of a touch sensitivity toggle which the Pixel 4 already has, to improve touch response with screen protectors. Hence, Google might have carried this change mistakenly over to the Pixel 4a but without a toggle.
But, denying this point, an employee responded to the issue saying that it is hardware related. It is not yet crystal clear if this issue is hardware related or software related but it definite that they are working to provide a fix soon.
It is yet unknown whether this fix will be available via an OTA update or any other fix. Follow our website to get the Technology updates as soon as we publish them.
