Galactic Civilizations 5 Release Date for PS5, Xbox Series X & PC

Galactic Civilizations is a franchise of 4X turn-based strategy video games that has been active since 1993 on the obsolete operating system called OS/2, and the latest mainline installment, Galactic Civilizations 4, is due to be released in 2022, thus marking nearly thirty years since the release of the first ever Galactic Civilizations. In this article, we will be taking a looking at the possibility of Galactic Civilizations 5 starting development after this, and when it could be officially released. Let’s get straight into it!

Check out the announcement trailer for Galactic Civilizations 4 which is scheduled for release in 2022, described by Stardock as follows: “As the all-powerful leader of a spacefaring civilisation, the player must seek out new star systems and discover the exciting potential of the subspace realm. There are thousands of worlds to colonise and dozens of civilisations – both old and new – to encounter.”

The Galactic Civilizations series is developed by the American game studio, Stardock. The first Galactic Civilizations title was the developer’s among the first few video games. The company did not receive the majority of the royalties that the game earned due to the publisher of the game going bankrupt. Since then, Stardock has come a very long way and is now quite well-known in the 4X community for their strategy games like Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, and Ashes of the Singularity. Stardock also maintains WinCustomize, which is a graphical user interface (GUI) customization community. They are also working on another video game, called Elves, but are yet to announce its release date.

Seeing as the developers are currently developing two games at one time, it may take a few months after the release of Galactic Civilizations 4 for Elves to be fully developed. As a result, the development for Galactic Civilizations 5 may experience a delayed start. Also, considering the prior release pattern of the Galactic Civilizations games, we could be looking at a late 2026 release for Galactic Civilizations 5.

We hope you are as excited as we are for the potential Galactic Civilizations 5. Make sure to check out our other articles on the upcoming Forza Motorsport 8, Demon Slayer Hinokami Keppuutan and F1 2022. Cheers!
