IronOak Games sequel to 2017’s For The King is finally here. Simply titled For the King 2, the game saw its official launch on November 2, 2023, and is currently available for Windows only. Fans of the first game had some big expectations for the sequel, and IronOak was more or less able to achieve those expectations. But FTK2 isn’t a perfect game. Due to the myriad of issues that happen to be plaguing the game right now, players are not particularly having a good time. And this guide in particular will help you deal with one of those issues. The Unable to Create Online Lobbies issue, to be exact.
Well, as the name suggests, players seem to be unable to create online lobbies as they just get loading on awaiting connection messages. Now, we don’t know what’s causing this issue, but it’s become so troublesome that players are looking for any kind of fix right now. So, is there a fix? Well, continue reading to find out!
For the King 2 (II) Unable to Create Online Lobbies: Is there any fix yet
We have some good news. Well, the developers are aware of this issue, and so we can expect an official fix to be released soon. Until that happens, you can try the following workarounds and see if any of them are of help.
Change server –
It seems like most of the multiplayer-related issues in the game right now can be solved by a simple server switch. In the case of this particular issue, we recommend that the host change their server and then create a lobby. Additionally, know that the region is set to null by default, so don’t forget to change it in the top left of the menu. Chances are, you will be able to continue with the multiplayer fun after trying this method. However, if that doesn’t happen, then try the next workaround.
Check your internet –
Since this issue is related to online gameplay, make sure that your internet is stable and fast. If the game isn’t letting you create online lobbies, you might consider switching to a different connection and trying again.
Disable VPN –
If you are connected to a VPN while launching the game, we recommend disabling it temporarily. VPNs can sometimes slow down your internet speed, causing such problems. Though VPNs are useful for numerous reasons, they are also notoriously famous for causing issues. Therefore, it’s better to turn them off temporarily while playing the game to avoid any related issues.
Delete certain files –
There’s also a unique fix that has worked for some. For this workaround, first, you would need to head to the following location on your PC: C:\Users\ [Your username folder]\AppData\LocalLow\IronOakGames\For The King II. Now, all you need to do is delete everything inside the For the King II folder and then launch the game. If you happen to be one of the players who tried out the beta and still haven’t deleted the beta folders, we suggest you go and delete those. Beta files are worthless at this point, so make sure to delete them.
Verify files –
You can also try the repairing files method in case the previous workaround doesn’t work. And since FTK2 is only available on Steam at the moment, you just need to head over to your Steam Library and then right-click on For The King 2. Next, select Properties > Installed Files > Verify the integrity of game files. Wait until the verification process is over, and then restart your PC. You can launch the game after that to check if the issue persists.
Reinstall –
If nothing else works, then we suggest you do a complete reinstallation of the game. Just uninstall the game, and then put it on a new download. Once FTK2 is installed, launch it and see if the issue continues.
