For The King 2 is the latest addition to the niche genre of tabletop RPGs. Developed by IronOak Games, the game got its official launch on November 2, 2023, and since then, the developers have been hard at work to fix the myriad of issues the player base is suffering from. Well, the major issue here, as reported by many, is that after defeating the first row of spiders, the Queen Spider will do a voice line, following which the combat simply freezes. Furthermore, this bug makes the player unable to select any kind of item. All in all, players are unable to progress in the boss fight due to this bug. So, is there a fix for this? The developers are aware of this issue and have promised a fix soon. Until then, you can try out the following workarounds:
Restart –
Start with this workaround first. While we can’t say if this will completely fix this issue, do give it a try once and check if the bug goes away or not. If it stays, you can just move on to the next workaround.
Allow data sharing –
This is quite a strange workaround, but it seems to work, so give it a try. Essentially, what you need to do is head to the in-game Settings menu> Gameplay and checkmark Allow data sharing. Now, head back to the boss fight and continue on. If you get stuck, press F1 on your keyboard and then click on Cancel. Next, left-click on the spider, which will open a menu from where you will be able to end the turn. Now do the same thing every time you see those spiders getting stuck. Note that you don’t actually have to submit bug reports. Just pressing F1 and canceling will do.
Reload saves –
Always do a manual save before any kind of major event or boss fight. This will save you a lot of hassle in the future. Now, if you happen to have a save before the Spider Queen boss fight, reload it and see if the issue persists. Try reloading a couple of times, and if you still encounter the same bug, try the next method.
Verify files –
Verifying and repairing files is a very common way of resolving bugs and errors in a game. To do this, you just need to open Steam and navigate to Library. From there, right-click on the game and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. After this, restart your PC and then launch the game.
Reinstall –
If you happen to be still encountering this issue, we suggest you do a fresh install of the game. Once you have done a fresh install, launch the game and see if the bug persists.
Wait –
If none of the workarounds are able to fix the bug, then all you can do is wait. Since the developers are aware of this issue, chances are that they will release a fix soon.
