IronOak Games’ For The King 2 finally got its official release on November 2, 2023, and ever since then, this indie title has been entertaining a steady number of players. In fact, at the time of publishing this guide, FTK2 managed to get a 24-hour peak player count of about 21K+ players (data sourced from SteamDB). And considering just how niche the tabletop RPG genre is, it’s nice to see a game like this archive numbers like this. But FTK2 isn’t a game without its own set of issues. One of these happens to be the loadouts not working issue.
For some reason, players seem to be unable to pick or select loadout items for their party members in the game. And in a game like this, not being able to customize a party member’s loadout is nothing short of unfortunate. So, is there a fix for this issue? Continue reading to find out!
For the King 2 (II) Loadouts Not Working Issue: Is there any fix yet
While the dev team is indeed aware of this issue, we are yet to receive an official fix of sorts. So, until then, you can follow the workarounds mentioned below.
Restart –
Before trying out other workarounds, we recommend you do a quick restart of the game. Furthermore, you can even try doing a restart of your PC if the former doesn’t yield any helpful results. This particular method may or may not fix your issue, but you should give it a try at least once.
Verify files –
A quite common workaround for fixing issues such as these happens to be the verifying files method. Essentially, your game files are thoroughly scanned and verified. And if some of them are found to be either missing or corrupted, they will be repaired accordingly. As for how to do this, it’s fairly easy. All you need to do is open Steam and head to Library. Now, right-click on the game and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Once the verification process is over, restart your PC, and then start the game itself.
Change the in-game resolution –
Players can also try changing the in-game resolution via the Settings menu and then checking whether the issue persists or not. In addition to that, you can also try switching from Fullscreen to Windowed mode.
Update the game –
Since its official release, For The King II has received several hotfixes. And if you happen to haven’t installed them yet, then go ahead and do so. If the issue persists even then, try another workaround.
Delete beta files –
Players who still have the beta files of the game are highly advised to delete those files. There’s no point in keeping them, and they will just unnecessarily create issues such as these. Once you have deleted them, see if you are still encountering this loadout issue. You can also try deleting the contents of the folder in the following directory: C:\Users\ [Your username folder]\AppData\LocalLow\IronOakGames\For The King II.
Reinstall –
If none of the aforementioned workarounds are able to get rid of this issue, we suggest you simply do a fresh install of the game. And if even then the issue remains, then contacting support is your only other fix.
Well, that’s all we have on this particular issue for now. But if you happen to be encountering some issues with creating online lobbies in the game, check out this guide.
