As a farmer, you work in the fields, tend to your crops, build facilities, and much more. But why undertake all these troubles? Well, the answer is money! Farming Simulator 25 is no different from being a sim game. So, it does not matter if you have a master plan for your farm. If you don’t have the money, you will be stuck in many phases. Therefore, to make things easier, here we are with all the strategies and tips to make money fast in FS25.
If you have played for a while, you will soon realize that financial success is key to expanding your farming empire. You will constantly be on the grind to unlocking new equipment and exploring all the game has to offer. This is where knowing the best money-making strategies can save you countless hours of trial and error. So, let us get to these tips without any further ado.
Farming Simulator 25 (FS25): How to make money fast
The methods listed below are some of the tried and tested ways to generate more income in the game. While cheating is always an option, which we will get later, let’s first look at some legitimate ways to make more cash in FS25.
Unnecessary items
If you are deep in a game and low on funds, one method is selling off unnecessary equipment and buildings. During the beginning of the game, you should have been provided with a pre-built farm and a range of equipment, some of which may not be useful now. So, all you have to do is take your time out to evaluate your inventory and offload redundant items. Start by reviewing your equipment. In many cases, you’ll find duplicate items, such as multiple tractors. Selling one, particularly the lower-horsepower model, will do just fine and will keep your farm functional. Similarly, tools like header trailers or other attachments that aren’t critical to your workflow can be sold. Don’t forget the buildings and structures which are no longer in use. Decorative barns, water points, unfinished construction projects, and animal pens can also be removed, along with the animals themselves. While removing items, the key is to retain only what’s important to your farming operations, such as silos for crop storage or essential tools for fieldwork.
Take out a loan
Just like in the real world, if you are low on capital, you can head out to the bank for a loan. But unlike in the real world, loans in FS25 are much easier to pay off. So, if you are someone terrified by loans and their interest rates, FS25 is not so harsh. Here is how it works. First of all, pause the game and click on the second last option, the one with the graph icon. Next up, head to the Finances tab and this is where you will be able to borrow money. Just press the buttons prompted at the bottom of the screen to draw out funds in increments of $5,000. The maximum amount can borrow will directly depend on the total value of your farm’s assets, which means the more valuable your equipment and property, the larger the loan you can secure. For example, it’s possible to borrow up to $500,000 or more, depending on your farm’s worth. Coming to the interest rates, they are quite ok as for every $100,000 borrowed, you’ll only pay around $333 per day in interest. To stay on top of loan repayments, the game will let you pay back the borrowed amount in $5,000 increments whenever you’re ready.
Accept contracts
If you have been sleeping on all the contracts available, you are missing out on a big money-making opportunity. You can check out all the available contracts by hitting the pause menu and selecting the fourth option with the two report sheets icon. Here are all the types of Contracts and their benefits
- Bale Wrapping Contracts: Often completed in under 10 minutes, they can pay out around $5,000, even after accounting for equipment leasing costs.
- Cultivating Contracts: Here is a quick little tip: If there are multiple cultivating contracts available, you can lease the equipment from one contract and use it for others before returning it.
- Deadwood Contracts: These involve cutting down marked trees, usually around 9 or 10. Using a chainsaw instead of leasing equipment keeps costs low, making these contracts a bit more profitable.
- Fertilizing Contracts: If you have your fertilizer spreader, these contracts are perfect for you. Just make sure to use your equipment and then you will save a lot more money on the rewards.
- Harvesting Contracts: While not as profitable as in previous versions of the game, harvesting contracts still offer solid payouts. They take longer to complete but can yield substantial income if the field is large and the crop is valuable.
To get the most out of contracts, focus on the higher-paying ones and always consider equipment costs. Leasing equipment for larger tasks is often worthwhile, especially if you can use it for multiple contracts before returning it. Additionally, hiring workers to complete contract tasks while you focus on your farm operations is a great way to multitask and increase overall income.
Grass and Silage Bales
If you have a lot of cattle and animals and feeding them is becoming a hassle, you should consider switching to growing grass and investing in silage bales. While the upfront costs can range between $200,000 and $300,000, the returns make it worth the risk. Grass can be harvested multiple times a year, unlike other traditional crops. This means you can produce and sell silage bales regularly. The process of creating silage bales involves mowing grass, preparing it, balancing it, and wrapping the bales for fermentation. To start with silage bales, you’ll need some essential equipment. Here’s a breakdown:
- Mower: You can opt for a basic mower setup to cut your grass fields.
- Windrower: This helps align grass into rows for easier baling.
- Baler: A baler is required to compress grass into bales. Make sure to choose a model that creates 150-cm bales, as this is the largest size that can still be wrapped.
- Bale Wrapper: For wrapping bales, a standalone wrapper is often more cost-effective than an integrated baler-wrapper setup.
Field Flipping
Field flipping essentially is purchasing fields that are ready to harvest, harvesting the crops to gain their full yield, and then selling the field back at its original purchase price. To do this, you will first have to scout for fields that are ready to harvest and contain crops you can handle with your current equipment. Next up, buy the selected field at its market price. Once you own the field, harvest the crops with all the right tools that you already own. Now, all harvested grain or produce is yours to keep and sell. After harvesting, sell the field. Fields generally retain their market value, so you can recoup your purchase cost entirely. So in a nutshell, you recoup the money that you spent buying the land and on top of that, you get to keep all the proceeds of the field! A tip here would be to target High-Value Crops and only purchase fields with crops you can harvest using your current equipment.
Greenhouses, Solar/Wind Generators and Small Production Points
Here are some more little bits of tips and strategies to make money fast. First off, set up greenhouses (preferably the cheaper variant) to grow crops like lettuce, which can earn up to $7,200 monthly if you provide free water. Use a small rice field or river for a free water source, and automate lettuce sales to save time. Break-even is achieved in about 7 months. Next up, time to capitalise on nature’s power! Install passive generators like solar panels or wind turbines to earn a steady monthly income. For example, a $100,000 solar panel can generate $9,000 monthly. And finally, if you have the time, you can also build small factories like grain mills or sawmills to process your farm’s crops or wood. For example, a $36,000 sawmill can turn nearby trees into planks, generating consistent profits. Since no particular trees are required, you can use a chainsaw to mow down any tree on sight and transport it to the mill for processing.
Collectibles and Mods
There are about 25 collectibles scattered all over the map. If you can find them, you can sell each for a hefty 10,000 dollars. For just random items on a map, you can explore around and earn up to $250,000! Finally, coming to the mods, The Government Subsidy mod lets you generate unlimited money by placing subsidy signs that produce up to $4 million per month. Simply head to the generators option in the build menu, scroll a bit, and you will see a sign with 0 dollars to set up. Place several signs, fast-forward time, and watch your funds grow rapidly.
