How is your farming journey going so far in Farming Simulator 25? We hope you are using our tips to make cash quickly and progress through the game. Anyway, you must have noticed that textures are not loading properly after the latest patch. The overall graphics quality has taken a significant dip! So, what is going on here, and is there any fix for these blurry textures? Well, let’s find out.
The issue is simple: textures are rendering at a much lower quality and the draw distance details for the foliage have also gone down. And don’t get it twisted! This is not because of your PC’s specs because even players with high-end rigs, like an RTX 3080 and i9 processors, have reported the same problem across all graphics settings. So, have the officials spoken about this issue? Continue reading for more details.
Farming Simulator 25 (FS 25) Textures Not Loading: Is there any fix yet
Thankfully, the officials are aware of the issue! In response, the developers clarified that the new foliageLODDistanceCoeff (which controls detailed close-up foliage rendering) isn’t yet adjustable via the game’s settings, causing unintended performance impacts. Previously, this setting was tied to foliageViewDistanceCoeff, making adjustments costly for performance. They plan to separate and expose this option in the next patch and that should fix the issue. Till then, however, we do have a dev recommended along with other player-suggested fixes! Here, try them out.
Basic Checks
Before trying other the dev and player suggested fixes, start by restarting the game and the system itself. Also, make sure to check that your GPU drivers are up to date. If everything is up to date, the next step is to verify the game files! Right-click on the game from your Steam Library, select the local files option, and get your files verified! If none of this works, move on with the workarounds explained below.
foliageLODDistanceCoeff
To address the foliage draw distance issues, adjust the foliageLODDistanceCoeff in the game.xml file. If you are not sure where to find this file, just head out to the save game location, typically found in PC/Documents/MyGames/Farming Simulator 25. Here, scroll through this folder and you should see the game.xml file. Open it using a word editor of your choice and make the following edits:
- <viewDistanceCoeff>1.500000</viewDistanceCoeff>
- <lodDistanceCoeff>1.000000</lodDistanceCoeff>
- <foliageViewDistanceCoeff>1.500000</foliageViewDistanceCoeff>
If you want to experiment with other values, check out the official forum by clicking here and checking what values have helped other players.
More game.xml tweaks!
Speaking of dev-recommended XML tweaks, if they do not work for you, here’s another set of player-suggested XML tweaks!
- <viewDistanceCoeff>3.500000</viewDistanceCoeff>
- <lodDistanceCoeff>2.000000</lodDistanceCoeff>
- <foliageViewDistanceCoeff>4.000000</foliageViewDistanceCoeff>
- <terrainLODDistanceCoeff>6.000000</terrainLODDistanceCoeff>
- <foliageLODDistanceCoeff>6.000000</foliageLODDistanceCoeff>
- <volumeMeshTessellationCoeff>0.500000</volumeMeshTessellationCoeff>
After applying these tweaks, check the log.txt in your game folder for the line Foliage LOG Distance Factor to confirm the changes are working. Adjust values cautiously, as higher settings can significantly impact performance. There are more parameters to try if this one does not work out. For example, check out this settings guide from a player with a long list of adjustments that can be made to the XML file. Do check it if the tweaks mentioned here fail to solve the issue.
Disable Frame Gen
Do you have an NVIDIA GPU with DLSS and Frame Generation? Are these features enabled? If so, try disabling it. While Frame Generation can improve frame rates by interpolating additional frames, it may sometimes cause visual glitches or compatibility problems in certain games. Disabling it and checking if that helps with the texture loading issues you’re facing.
Install Reshade Mod
Here is another player-suggested fix that could come in clutch. Consider testing with ReShade after the latest patch. ReShade, for those who do not know, is a post-processing tool that improves game visuals by adding effects like improved lighting, color correction, and sharpening. For some players, ReShade fixed the issue and you can try it as well by downloading it from this link.
Delete Shaders
You can also try deleting the shading_cache folder from the game directory. This forces the game to rebuild the shader cache, which may resolve glitches or stutters caused by outdated or corrupted shader data. Note that the game may stutter initially as it rebuilds the cache, but it should run more smoothly afterward. To find the shader cache folder, simply follow the given path: C/Users/Usernamefolder/Documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator25/. The folder will be present in this directory.
Adjust Shadows
Consider adjusting the shadow settings in the Advanced Graphics tab. Lowering the shadow quality by even just a bit can significantly improve performance, helping to reduce stuttering or lag. While this might slightly affect visual fidelity, the trade-off can provide a smoother gameplay experience without a major loss in graphical quality.
Via in-game Console
To fix blurry textures and microstuttering in Farming Simulator 25, you can use the console to adjust texture streaming behavior. First, navigate to Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator25, open the game.xml file, and scroll down to enable the development controls by setting them to “true.” Now, launch the game, and in the game’s main menu, press “~” to open the console, type setTextureStreamingBehavior min, and press Enter. Unfortunately, this command needs to be entered every time you start the game, but it should help resolve issues with blurry textures on vehicles and wheels, as well as reduce stuttering.
Low VRAM?
The blurry textures and microstuttering in Farming Simulator 25 are caused by running low on VRAM, which affects how .dds textures are handled. When the system can’t handle high-resolution textures, it loads lower-quality maps to prevent crashes or excessive GPU/CPU load. To fix this, you can either upgrade your GPU for more VRAM or reduce settings like SSAO and texture resolution in-game. You can also try increasing your VRAM on your PC! To do this:
- Search for “View Advanced System Settings” via Windows Search.
- Click “Settings” under the Advanced tab.
- In the Performance Options window, navigate to the Advanced tab once more.
- Click “Change” under the Virtual Memory section.
- Uncheck the option that says “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives”.
- Now, select the drive where the game is installed (e.g., C or D).
- Set the custom size for virtual memory: the initial size should be 1.5 times your total RAM, and the maximum size should be 3 times your total RAM.
- Click “OK” to apply the changes.
Check for Updates
And if nothing works out, instead of reinstalling, the last option you have is to check for updates and make sure to keep Farming Simulator 25 up to date at all times. Since the developers have promised an update to fix this issue, that just might be your last hope!
Those are the workarounds we have for now until the developers fix the issue in an upcoming patch. We hope that it will be released soon!
