F1 fans can finally rest easy knowing that the sixteenth mainline entry into the F1 series is here. Released on June 16th, 2023, the game is developed by EA’s subsidiary, Codemasters. Published under EA’s sports arm, EA Sport, F1 23 is available for download on almost all major platforms except the Switch. And before you ask, No, there have been no announcements by the developers about a Nintendo Switch port. Anyway, reviews for the game are more than positive, with critics lauding the game’s mechanics and great visuals. Suffice it to say, F1 23 has successfully outdone its predecessor, F1 22. Now that the game is available to a wide audience, there have been some complaints going around in the community. Some of it has more to do with technical issues than gameplay-related issues. A major one is about the throttle not working properly in the game.
Honestly, no game comes out issue-free, at least in this era. While F1 23 doesn’t have as many egregious problems as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor had with its PC port and also Redfall, there are still some annoying issues that can be frustrating to deal with. This throttle problem is one of them. But like any other problem, it can be solved using some potential workarounds. So, here are a few workarounds to help you with the throttle not working properly issue in F1 23.
F1 23 (F1 2023) throttle not working properly: Is there any fix it?
At the time of writing this article, there hasn’t been any official acknowledgment from EA regarding this issue. As such, there is no official fix. So, until then, follow the given workarounds and see if your issue gets resolved.
Calibrate your Throttle settings/Lower gears-
First, try calibrating the Throttle settings in-game. There are three main options for it – Throttle Deadzone, Throttle Linearity, and Throttle Saturation. Adjust the settings according to your preferences. Also, if the throttle fails to function, it might be that you are in a Safety lap (Safety Car), that only allows your vehicle to drive at a specific gear. So, if you’re driving the vehicle in 4th or 5th gear and the throttle isn’t working, consider dropping down to 2nd or 3rd, and then check if the issue persists.
Restart game –
Well, here comes some basic troubleshooting. We recommend that you do a quick restart of the game first before moving on to other methods. Who knows!! You might just end up resolving the issue without having to tinker with more complex workarounds.
Restart device –
Just like we started with a game restart, do the same with your device, i.e., console or PC. Furthermore, if you want, you can also power cycle your console by powering it off, unplugging it from the main source, and, after waiting for a good minute or two, plugging it back in and powering it on. Doing so might fix any console-related issues related to the throttle not working.
Change controller/wheel –
The root cause of the issue could be your controller/wheel too. As such, we highly recommend that you try using a different controller and see if the issue is still there.
Remove other connected devices –
If you have a wheel and a controller connected to the system, consider removing the one not in use. This might result in the wrong input being provided to the game, which can cause throttling issues.
Reinstall game –
If nothing else works, then the final step is to simply reinstall the game. If you are okay with the idea of having to do a fresh install, then go ahead with this method.
