The indie, massively multiplayer online (MMO) first person shooter game, Escape From Tarkov is getting a major update in the Patch 12.6 and here’s what we know from what the Lead Developer of Battlestate Games(BSG), Nikita Buyanov has to say about it.
On an official Russian Community Podcast on May 8th, Nikita along with the BSG team revealed the Victory Day pre-order sale on all the editions of the game, till May 9th 23:59 MSK. Along with that, they told the fans how 12.6 is going to be a big and significant update, unlike the other previous updates.
More details from the official podcast are given below:
12.6 is going to focus heavily on Bug Fixes and Exploit Management and many little technical bits and pieces. BSG has also announced a Bug Bounty and reward for finding them in the future. The patch is being delayed to get rid of any possible exploits present in the game to deliver an optimum product.
Nikita is very serious on playing the game how it is intended to be played thus online cheater protection is also going to be a major focus point of the update. BSG is working along with BattleEye on cheater protection and a Player Report System is also planned for the future which will be similar to the one seen in Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds. The players however will not be banned right away but the report will go over to BattleEye for analysis.
12.6 is introducing many new gameplay changing systems such as player character fatigue and overweight and trading of crafted and found-in-raid items. New Arena Mode about fighting a group of bosses along with a new boss, ‘Sanitar’ for Shoreline is also planned for the future updates. The current update will have new AI driven UN soldier troops which will be controlling and diving the map, making it harder for the player to traverse.
Certain other features such as new sound design will also be seen. The VSS ammo will be getting nerfed and under barrel launchers are going to be added after BSG adds Hand Grenade Launcher. New decorative items for chest rigs will be available and a compass is being planned for the future.
There are certain map changes coming with 12.6 as new loot spawns will be added and the old ones will be redone. Maps with just Scavs and PMC extracts would be added when all maps are done. Speaking of the in game clans, new clothes and a Karma System will be added in the future and a DLC about Scav’s life is planned.
The Flea Market also seems be to getting some rework done as to add more to the new found in-raid only Flea Market, BSG will reduce the amount of items traders sell. Captcha will be introduced at the market which is to be filled after repetitive trades and other related stuff.
Nikita and BSG has also announced that they are looking for people for voicing the characters, so players can choose their favourite famous personalities for the job. If you’re a player, head over to their Twitter handle and make your choice. The 12.6 is going to be a massive update, as the developers and players look forward for the future of Escape From Tarkov.
