Keen Games’s Enshrouded launched as an early access title on January 24, 2024, and quickly went on to become a hit with many players. So much so that at the time of writing this, the game had a 24-hour peak of about 123,889 players. It’s quite an impressive number for a game that didn’t have much hype before its launch. It certainly speaks volumes about how fun the game is. However, it seems like players aren’t just satisfied with that and want to use mods to get more fun out of the game. But does Enshrouded have mod support?
Nowadays, modding has become an integral part of gaming. While games can certainly be enjoyable without mods, using them is just so much better. From Civilization VI to Crusader King 3, there are so many games that allow modding, which in turn helps the game remain fresh and fun for players. Enshrouded is certainly an enjoyable game in itself, but there are a lot of QoL features missing that can be added in pretty easily using mods. So, does Keen Games’s Enshrouded have mod support? Enshrouded mod support: Is it available?
As of now, Enshrouded doesn’t happen to have mod support. While this is certainly unfortunate news to hear, know that the developers haven’t abandoned the idea of adding official mod support to Enshrouded. In the FAQ channel of the game’s official Discord server, the following was mentioned in relation to mod support:

There are no question that mods are what makes a game truly great, but at this stage, we cannot make promises that the game will be moddable, but it is something we would love to implement in the future.
Another thing to note here is that, because Keen Games is using a proprietary engine for Enshrouded, it will not be compatible with the modding tools that are available for Unity and Unreal projects. For Enshrouded to get mod support, Keen Games will need to build their own modding toolkit, and that’s going to take both time and effort from the developers. Two things that they don’t have the luxury of right now, as Keen Games’s number one priority right now is fixing all major issues with the game.
Only mod support isn’t the sole feature that’s missing from Enshrouded. Other stuff like in-game chat, player-based quest progression, difficulty settings, and many more are also not there. Keen Games is certainly aware of all this, and we are sure that in the following months, players will start seeing many missing features being slowly added to the game.
