Renewable Energy variants might soon come up with storage batteries designed to work in an environmental-friendly mannerism. In a recent research, scientists have managed to develop a unique form of the aluminium battery that comes with two times energy density as compared to previous designs.
This evidently makes the technology far more practical when it comes to the large-scale assignments such as wind farms or solar farms while bringing in the use of sustainable materials. In order to create this battery, the prime trick was replacement of the generic graphite cathode with the element anthraquinone which is an organic form of carbon-based molecule which enhances the density of the battery by opting for storage of the positive charge-based carriers that come from its electrolyte.
As of now, aluminium batteries aren’t available beyond the labs and one shouldn’t expect them to be sold in the market in the upcoming months or maybe even years. These aluminium batteries are still half the density of lithium-ion based cells. Currently, the scientists involved in the research are working on increasing the effectiveness of charging systems and electrolytes. If Aluminum manages to reach the density level of lithium, it can bring in a major change in renewable energy environment.
