Steam user If we Lose, Blame RTO asked on the Steam Discussion forum whether the game will ‘support’ mods. Now, of course, if we take a look at the previous titles, Earth Defense Force 5 had a bunch of mods for players to choose from. For EDF5, most of these mods were available on Nexus Mods. These mods even allowed players to buff up the NPCs.
Steam user Bearus shared on the same thread that there’s no mechanism in the game that discourages the use of mods. This includes anti-cheat and achievements. So, with that being said, we can indeed expect mods for Earth Defense Force 6.
EDF6 Brian Balance and Lootmaster Mods
We already have the first mod for Earth Defense Force 6 on Nexus Mods. Titled as the Brian Balance Mod, this is a mod that will boost certain weapons in the game. This includes weapons that were more powerful back in EDF5 but were nerfed in EDF6 and weapons that just require a better stat in the game.
For example, as the description page of the mod explains, the damage dealt with ranger Fork missile launchers is increased by 50%. It also reduces the point cost for Titan Tanks by 33%. There are a few other changes that you can find under the changelog section on the mod description page.
Other than this, there is also the Lootmaster mod, which simply allows the players to collect every single crate after a mission. So, along with the Brian Balance and Lootmaster mods released on July 30, and a total of 8 more mods available for the game on Nexus Mods, we can expect that more will follow. Of course, the game is quite recent, so modders will need a little time to add new mods. However, the wait shouldn’t be much longer.
