Dragon Ball Z 2024 game Release Date for PC, Xbox & PS5

Update: Bandai Namco has officially shared that more details on the upcoming Dragon Ball Z game, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, along with its new trailer, will be made available at 3 PM PT on Sunday.

The world of Dragon Ball Z games is one marred with both great and shitty games. The DBZ games era started in 1986 with the release of Dragon Ball: Dragon Daihikyo for the Super Cassette Vision. Since then, we have seen a great number of DBZ games, ranging from fighting game titles to RPGs. However, there hasn’t been a new DBZ in quite a while and fans are eagerly waiting for one.

DBZ games have seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. But the IP itself is something that’s adored by many around the world, and that has helped the world of DBZ games to continue existing. So, what and when’s the next DBZ game? Is it even in development? Well, continue reading to find out all about the same.

The next evolution of Dragon Ball Z games arrives in the form of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero. Fans of DBZ games might have realized by now that the recently announced Sparking! Zero is actually the fourth installment of the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series, as the series is called Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! in Japan, and Budokai Tenkaichi in the rest of the world.

Now, it’s unclear whether this is a reboot of the series due to the Sparking! Zero name. As you can see here, the first point states “DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO brings back the revered 3D action battle game series previously known as BUDOKAI TENKAICHI in the West”. But reboot or not, DBZ fans are over the moon with the announcement of the game. The latest Dragon Ball game to release was Dragon Ball: The Breakers in 2022, and to be honest, that was a major letdown. Before that, it was Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. And while it was certainly better than The Breakers, it was nothing to write home about. But Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, on the other hand, looks quite promising from what we have seen so far.

Dragon Ball Z fans have been waiting for years for the next Budokai Tenkaichi game to be released. DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi was released back in 2007, with DBZ: Tenkaichi Tag Team serving as a spin-off of sorts in 2010. As you can imagine by now, the upcoming release of DBZ: Sparking! Zero is something that every single DBZ fan is hyped about.

So far, there’s very little information about Sparking! Zero. For starters, Bandai Namco has yet to give out any release dates or even a release window for the game. While some have speculated a 2024 release, it could also turn out to be a 2025 release. Other than that, we know that DBZ: Sparking! Zero is set to release for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Windows. Spike Chunsoft, the studio behind the Danganronpa series and previous Budokai Tenkaichi games, is back to develop Sparking! Zero with Bandai Namco as the publisher. Aside from that, from what the trailers have shown so far, we will be getting the following characters in the game:

  • Goku & SSB form
  • Vegeta & SSB form
  • Broly
  • Frieza
  • Jiren
  • Mr. Satan
  • Android 18
  • Android 17
  • Krillin
  • Piccolo
  • Yamcha
  • Tien
  • Cell
  • Majin Buu
  • Trunks
  • Bergamo

While the list might be small right now, we are more than confident to say that it will expand. The Budokai Tenkaichi series is known for having a giant rooster, so you can expect the same with this one. Well, that’s all the information we have on this topic for now. Additionally, if you want to know more about the upcoming Need for Speed game, take a look at this. Lastly, for more content like this, keep following DigiStatement.
