Downhill Domination was released between 2003 to 2004 for various regions in the world, July 23, 2003, for NA, February 13, 2004, for EU, and May 20, 2004, for Japan. The game is a racing video game and was exclusively released for PlayStation 2, hence many have very fond memories with this game, unfortunately, it has been about 15 years since its release and we have never seen a sequel and well according to some who loved the gameplay experience that Downhill Domination has to offer, we have never seen another game in a similar genre provide the same experience that Downhill Domination did. Many fans even till today have been wondering whether Downhill Domination 2 will ever be released?
The developers of Downhill Domination, Incognito Entertainment, developed a few more titles after Downhill Domination, however, in July 2007, the majority of the companies staff left the studio to form a separate game studio called Eat Sleep Play.
Hence, it is hard to say that a Downhill Domination 2 will ever be released since the original developers have moved onto newer studios and different titles, no one from the original development team of Downhill Domination is still in Incognito Entertainment, the last of the remaining staff also left the studio to start LightBox Interactive, a sequel to the title has not even been rumored to be in the works with a new studio, these are simply the dreams of players who hold fond memories with that game and wish to see it rebooted in some way.
However, though a Downhill Domination 2 may not ever be released, this doesn’t mean that there aren’t any games which can provide a similar experience, Riders Republic is an upcoming sports game which has been developed by Ubisoft and though it has way more racing modes than Downhill Domination, the game still has a similar competitive mechanics and could be a fun experience for those who wish to play a game like Downhill Domination again.
Riders Republic could very well be looked at as a Downhill Domination 2 and is set to release on October 28, 2021, for PC, PlayStation 4/5, Stadia, and Xbox One, Series X/S.
