Valve talked about how Dota 2 will change in the near future. The company announced that it plans to release a new hero at the end of November, as well as introduce the CS: GO “Patrol” functionality, which should help in the fight against toxic players.
As reported by Valve, it wants to distribute new content in the game throughout the year, rather than releasing most of it ahead of The International. In particular, the second new hero is expected to be released in January-April 2021.
The company recalled that it is serious about toxicity in Dota 2. Valve has announced that its Smurf recognition system has improved. In addition, the developers noted that they now identify boosters more efficiently – over 14 thousand accounts have been banned over the past 30 days.
For the internal moderation of the game in Dota 2, an analogue of the “Patrol” will appear – players will watch demos of other users and make verdicts regarding their behaviour. There are no other details about the system yet.
Dota 2 New MMR Calibration: Valve
Valve also announced that a new ranked season will start soon. In it, the company will allow players not to MMR reset – this was a must before.
Valve has announced the rules for resetting the MMR in Dota 2 for the new season. Calibration is now optional.
At a random time from October 22 to November 22, all players will have access to a new section on the “Account” tab. It will be active until the end of next season, and the user will be able to reset the current rating and recalibrate at any time.
Valve:
“This season we will approach the rating reset in a different way. First, it will become optional. Secondly, we will introduce it to different players gradually, so as not to create too much unpredictability (which already exists at the beginning of the calibration). We hope that this way we will get rid of most of the shortcomings when the rating is reset and allow everyone who wants to undergo recalibration in a more stable environment. “
