Well, Dota 2 is back with their annual short film contest! One of the most awaited times in the calendar for most Dota 2 fans is seeing what the community has come up with in the latest edition of the short film contest.
When is the submission deadline?
If you’re looking to make a submission to this year’s short film contest, the last date you can do so is the 25th of July, 2021. Not too much time considering the amount of work a short film can be, so get cracking!
What’re the rules?
Each entry has to be under 1.5 minutes, or 90 seconds. It must be relevant to Dota 2, and at least 1080p in quality. You can make multiple submissions as well. The film does not have to be made in Source Filmmaker. In fact, last year’s runner-ups used Unreal Engine 4 for their film.
Rewards?
In total, Dota is dishing out over $40,000 in prizes. That is broken down into $25k for first place, $10k for the second, $5k for third, and $500 for each of the 4th to 10th placed teams. Money isn’t the only motivator, though. The winner’s film will be shown at The International 10, the ultimate round of the Dota Pro Circuit 2021. The recognition that will bring with it does not need mentioning. Finally, a large portion of Dota 2’s fanbase may also be watching your film and voting on it. Based on Valve’s discretion, a certain number of films will be displayed in-game so fans can have their say in the proceedings.
