Launch Options I see 4 Launch Options when playing this game: Play Deeprock Play Deeprock DX11 Play Deeprock DX12 Play Deeprock Safemode I am not well versed in the nuances of each of the version of DX, but my computer is more than capable of running anything Deeprock can throw at it, should i be playing in DX12? Showing 1-4 of 4 comments Johnno has Deep Rock Galactic 29 Apr, 2023 @ 7:51pm You *should* probably try both and see which works best for you? Some people have graphics issues with Dx12 (myself included) even with capable hardware. #1 Jaevwyn has Deep Rock Galactic 29 Apr, 2023 @ 7:52pm Originally posted by Johnno: You *should* probably try both and see which works best for you? Better for older computers, and a fallback option if you are experiencing issues with Dx12. -Play Deeprock DX12 Launch DRG with Dx12. Better for newer computers, will enable some additional options like HDR; does have a few visual bugs that can crop up though. -Play Deeprock Safemode Launch DRG with the "-disablemodding" start parameter. Disables all mods in case one of them is crashing your game at launch. #3 Jaevwyn has Deep Rock Galactic 29 Apr, 2023 @ 8:16pm Originally posted by Chibbity: -Play Deeprock Launch DRG with whichever Dx mode you last picked, the default is 12 I believe? -Play Deeprock DX11 Launch DRG with Dx11. Deep Rock Galactic launch options: What does it mean & which to use?

Deep Rock Galactic launch options What does it mean & which to use

First, we will go over the different launch options and what they mean, after which we can give you tips and advice on which option to use.

Play Deep Rock

This standard launch option starts the game with the DirectX mode you last used. If you’re unsure which DirectX version to choose, this option is useful as it remembers your previous choice. By default, it is likely to launch the game with DirectX 12 if that was the last used setting.

Play Deep Rock DX11

Launching Deep Rock Galactic with DirectX 11 is ideal for players using older hardware. DirectX 11 is more stable on systems that may not fully support the newer DirectX 12 features. If you experience performance issues, graphical glitches, or crashes with DirectX 12, switching to this option can help with a more consistent and smoother gaming experience.

Play Deep Rock DX12

For players with modern and capable hardware, launching the game with DirectX 12 will improve the overall graphics and also give you some additional features like HDR (High Dynamic Range). DirectX 12 is designed to take advantage of newer GPU architectures. However, keep in mind that some players have reported occasional graphical bugs or instability when using DirectX 12, so it’s worth testing both DX11 and DX12 to see which works best for your setup.

Play Deep Rock Safe Mode

Have you been installing a lot of mods? Well, then this safe mode is what can come in handy. Safe Mode disables all mods by using the “-disablemodding” start parameter. If your game crashes at launch or if you suspect that a mod is causing issues, launching in Safe Mode can help you identify and resolve these problems!

Which Option to Use When?

In a nutshell, if you’re using older hardware, go for “Play Deep Rock DX11” option. If you have a modern, decent gaming rig, it is better to opt for the “Play Deep Rock DX12” option. “Play Deep Rock” remembers your last used DirectX version in case you happen to forget your last choice, while “Play Deep Rock Safe Mode” can act as a workaround related to issues with mods.

That is all we have to share about the different launch options in Deep Rock Galactic. We hope your doubts regarding the same are cleared.
