Developer Incantation Games and publisher Fulqrum Publishing just recently announced their upcoming Lovecraftian FPS – Decadent. The announcement trailer for the game was released on April 5, 2024, and has generated some interest around it. Decadent is all set to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2025, although a specific release date is yet to be announced. Featuring unique mechanics like a dynamic sanity system, and a progression lite system along with a thrilling Lovecraftian narrative, Decadent is looking to be a pretty interesting release. There’s a lot of curiosity around this game, and one of the major things that a lot of players want to know about is whether the game will have multiplayer co-op.
Decadent promises a full-on Lovecraftian horror experience coupled with satisfying gunplay and exploration. And only time will tell if that’s true or not. However, uncovering strange secrets while dealing with unknown creatures with friends and other players is something that sounds absolutely fun. This is one of the many reasons why so many players want to know if Decadent will have multiplayer co-op when it releases next year. Decadent Multiplayer Co-op Mode: Will it be available
Bad news incoming. Well, at the time of publishing this, it’s been confirmed that Decadent will not be released with a multiplayer co-op mode. This is certainly a bummer to many who were hoping to enjoy multiplayer in the game, but it is what it is. The confirmation comes from a response to a Steam Discussion post that asked questions regarding roguelike and co-op in the game. And this is what was stated in that reply by one of the game’s developers:
“Decadent will not be roguelike nor it will be co-op. It will be a story-driven first-person shooter that combines atmospheric exploration, horror and combat into an immersive experience. Kinda like Stalker or Metro in Lovecraftian horror setting”.
As you can see, developer Incantation Games is fully focused on keeping Decadent a single-player-only experience. But is there a possibility of the devs adding multiplayer support to the game later on? Well, the chances of that happening simply range from slim to none. With Incantation Games being firm on their stance on co-op, it really doesn’t look like Decadent will support it in the future. However, opinions can change. If there’s enough demand for multiplayer and Incantation considers it feasible, maybe there’s a chance that Decadent will get multiplayer co-op in the future.
