Gameplay Overview
In Deathloop, the main protagonist is Colt, an assassin who is stuck in a time loop. The game is set on the island of Blackreef. This island has a former army base. It takes place over a night where the party seems to last forever, as, at the end of each night, the island resets to the start of the party in that time loop. The party features multiple unique characters with their own set characteristics. Only Colt retains memories from each loop, learning the behaviors and patterns of the characters at the party with each time loop.
Colt has to assassinate eight targets across the island before the clock strikes midnight because leaving even one target alive will cause the time loop to reset. Furthermore, if Colt dies before taking out the eight targets, he always wakes back up at the start of the loop. Deathloop also features weapons, gadgets, and powers that are familiar to Arkane Studios’ previous games.
Multiplayer in Deathloop
In addition to the single-player mode, the game also features a multiplayer game mode. Therefore, players can take the role of Julianna in multiplayer. She is an agent whose objective is to protect the time loop and assassinate Colt. When a player takes this role, they will enter a random player’s game and may interfere with their game. The multiplayer mode is optional and players can prevent others from taking on the role of Julianna in their game and use an AI version of Julianna in their game.
