DBD Halloween event 2024 Start Date, New Killer, skins & more

Dead by Daylight (DBD) remains one of the top horror multiplayer games, consistently delivering fresh content and exciting updates. Featuring new killers, thrilling collaborations, and plenty of spooky fun, it’s no surprise that the game is still relevant, years after its initial release. Anyway, DBD fans will be getting their yearly share of Halloween content in the upcoming Halloween event for 2024, Haunted by Daylight, packed with chilling surprises. If you want to jump into the fog this October and experience the ultimate fright fest, you’re in for a treat. Here’s everything you need to know about the event’s start date, the new killer, skins, and more.

As a horror game with a massive player base of over 50 million, Dead by Daylight always makes October special with its Halloween events. Every year, the game treats its players to a spooky celebration, and 2024 is no different. Last year’s Halloween event introduced a variety of new items, add-ons, and the Void Energy mechanic. With that in mind, players are already excited about what the developers might have planned this season. So, let’s take a closer look at what Dead by Daylight has in store for this year’s Halloween event.

DBD Halloween event 2024 Start Date, New Killer, skins & more

Just a few days ago, the Dead by Daylight developers hosted a lengthy livestream, providing players a look into the upcoming Halloween event. The stream was packed with exciting reveals and details about what we can expect this season. Well, we have summarized all the key information so that you can quickly get up to speed on all the important details without sifting through the entire broadcast.

Start Date

The Haunted by Daylight 2024 event marks its third iteration, starting on 17 October and running until 7 November 2024. This follows a similar timeline to last year’s event, so players can expect these dates to be the official runtime as the event approaches, bringing with it several weeks of Halloween-themed content and rewards. Speaking of which, let us get to those!

New killer?

Like the previous Haunted by Daylight event, which did not introduce an all-out new Killer, there has been no announcement or mention of a new Killer in the upcoming Halloween update either. Even the recent livestream for the event didn’t feature any hints of a brand-new character. There is, however, a small caveat: three killers—Blight, Spirit, and Deathslinger—have been made available in a mode that is making a comeback, which we shall get into later. However, with the event yet to begin, there’s still hope that a brand-new Killer character might make an appearance. Fingers crossed, players may still get a surprise reveal during the event itself. But even if that does not happen, we have a lot of new skins to be excited about! check them out below

New skins!

Here are all the new collections and their skins mentioned in the livestream:

Void Collection
  • New Kate Outfit
  • New Adam Outfit
  • New Zarina Outfit (with void interpretation of classic leather jacket and scarf style)
  • First Killer Outfit
Tricks and Treats Collection
  • Fiery Spider outfit for Sable
  • Fiery Cat outfit for Michaela
Hallowed Blight Collection
  • Bladed Pig with serum oozing out of her pores
  • Blighted Good Guy (extra arms and legs grafted to torso)
  • Tragic Hero outfit for Nicholas Cage (blight-splattered ensemble)
  • Blighted Bounty Hunter for Deathslinger
Alien Collection
  • Juggernaut Xenomorph (completely original creation)
  • Pressure Suit outfit for Ellen Ripley (inspired by original Alien film)
More Collections
  • Clown outfit for the Laugh and Slash Collection
  • More additions to Cozy Break and Modern Tales
  • Hattie outfit in an upcoming collection
  • Outfits for Toita, Rado, and Gabriel

2 vs 8 Mode Returns

The 2 vs 8 game mode is making a comeback with several updates. Three new Killers—Blight, Spirit, and Deathslinger—are now playable in this mode, along with five new maps. Survivors will also experience new active abilities such as rebuilding pallets, healing from a distance, and picking themselves up, which should address issues like slugging. An anti-snowball mechanic has been introduced to prevent matches from becoming too one-sided. Additionally, Killers will now be categorized into classes, including Shadow (undetectable), Brute (focused on chases), Enforcer (focused on finishing chases), and Fearmonger (movement-based), etc.

Other Major Changes

One of the biggest changes is the continuous access to the Void, as a portal will now always be open from the start of each match, allowing both Survivors and Killers to enter at any time. In a major shift from previous years, Killers can now use their powers inside the Void, and Survivors will be able to defend themselves with pallets, access lockers, and open chests. Killers retain the undetectable status inside the Void, and injured Survivors will still be broken, much like in previous iterations. Downing a Survivor in the Void allows Killers to hook them, with the Survivor being teleported to a random hook outside the Void.

Now, while the whole event has a lot more to unpack, the things that we have mentioned are the major highlights. We hope this clears all doubts about the upcoming Halloween event in DBD.
