Now, the most important thing is to prepare yourself before facing the Shortfin Mako. And how do you do that? Well, upgrading your rifle is a good place to start, as it can land a heavy blow. That also means having a more powerful weapon in your arsenal will give you an advantage in taking them down. The Death Rifle (an upgraded version of the regular rifle) is also an effective option for shark hunting. Also, you might want to have your HP upgraded to the maximum for a better chance at dealing with these sharks.

Observe and execute

Now, when engaging in a fight with the Shortfin Mako, it’s crucial to observe its patterns and movements. These sharks have a distinctive wind-up before lunging at you, so keep a close eye on their behavior. Once you notice them preparing to strike, change your direction quickly to avoid their attack. Timing is key here, and with practice, you’ll become more adept at dodging their deadly charges.

Use charms to your advantage

To maximize your damage output, try to get a few shots in after successfully evading their attacks. But if you get too greedy, you will likely pay the price with your life. The key here is to maintain a safe distance from the shark and repeat the dodge-and-shoot strategy. One player suggested equipping the Octopus Bracelet, which lets you dash forward for a short distance. Using this charm will allow you to successfully dodge the attacks of the Shortfin Mako, and after that, you can fire 2-3 shots at it. You can also equip the Dolphin Necklace charm, as it provides a whopping 30% boost to your dash speed.

Play Safe

If you’re finding it challenging to outrun the Shortfin Mako even if you have boosted swim speed, consider seeking cover or using nearby platforms to your advantage. Hide under a platform and wait for the shark to expose itself. When you spot an opportunity, aim carefully and shoot it using the Sniper Rifle. Afterward, swiftly move to the other side of the floor to avoid getting too close to the shark. And if you don’t want to mess with the Mako Shark in any way, you can simply paddle away from its line of sight so as not to aggravate it.

Well, these are some tips that will help you defeat a Shortfin Mako Shark in Dave the Diver. We hope this guide was informative.
