COD: Modern Warfare 3 currently suffers from a lot of issues and bugs, many of which are being looked at. However, despite Sledgehammer doing their best, players just keep encountering one bug after another. Just recently, we started hearing reports about the Stuck on Activating Token (Double XP) Screen issue in COD MW3.
For the uninitiated, whenever some players try to activate a Double XP token, instead of receiving the intended effect, they see the game getting stuck on the “Activating Token” screen. It’s quite a frustrating error and one that should be addressed ASAP. So, if that’s the issue you are encountering as well, consider reading until the end for more details on whether there is a fix for it.
COD Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) Stuck on Activating Token (Double XP) Screen: Is there any fix yet
Well, as of now, there is no official fix, but you can follow the workarounds mentioned below to deal with this issue. These are the potential workarounds that have the most chances of getting rid of this problem.
Restart –
Currently, the most suggested and popular workaround happens to be simply restarting the game. As such, you can start by trying out this method and see if it helps. However, if the issue persists, you can try out the next fix.
Activate Token in MW2 –
Some players were able to circumvent this issue by activating the token in Modern Warfare II instead of MWIII. However, you will need to have MWII purchased and installed on your device for this particular workaround to work properly. In case you don’t have MW2 and don’t want to buy it, you can check out other workarounds. Additionally, others have found out that activating the token in Warzone works too.
Download the latest available update –
If you have yet to download and install the latest available update for MWIII, do so ASAP. Once the update is installed, launch the game and see if the issue persists. If it does, you can move on to the next workaround.
Verify files –
Players are also recommended to try the verifying files method to deal with this issue. In this method, the MWIII files will be thoroughly checked, and if any missing or corrupted files are found, they will be repaired accordingly. To do that, you just need to open Steam and then click on Library. Next, right-click on the game and select Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. After the verification process is over, restart your PC and then launch the game.
Reinstall –
In case none of the aforementioned workarounds are of help, you can try doing a fresh install of the game and hope that works. And if you are indeed going ahead with this method, make sure that your internet connection has good enough speed to download the entire game once again.
